New Seat Covers/seat belt guides

I am going to replace my seat covers , along with replacing the old seat belt guides.
Those were easy enough to get new, but the mount for the strap on the top is not- see the pic

I wanted to check if anyone has any cleaver ideas on how to mount something so the seatbelt guide strap works
as intended by Mazda- to hold the seat belt strap in a position that makes it easy to put on AND not have the retaining strap come lose.
I have seen some use snaps, which I may have to do, but wanted to check if any better ideas?

Need to make this old strap mount work

There's a good how-to thread here on replacing the covers that also shows the OP's solution to the seat belt guides. He used leather straps and some upholstery snap fasteners IIRC - https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generati...w-diy-1041306/

Are the seat belt guide plastic pieces & straps no longer available from Mazda? I'll be checking myself with Ray Crowe soon as I plan to restore my tan leather seats during my FD's winter hibernation.

The guides with the straps are available, but the part circled in the pic is not.
I got the part with the straps from these guys, antispeed7@gmail.com,
they are in Japan.
It was $96 usd for 2, shipped rom Japan, got here in 2days.
These guys are really good.

I saw that post about redoing the seat covers, going to follow it.
I will use snaps if I cant find anything else, already bought some.

I reused the Mazda seat belt guide on my seat cover replacement. I bought new guide from Ray but had to reuse the clip. I was going from Tan to Black so I painted the clip. It was easy to remove and attach to new seat cover. See the picture for what the back of the clip looks like.

I found this style, I think I will try to find some that will fit our seats or even have some custom made.

Latest info from Mr. Crowe on the seat belt guide parts

Bottom line - If you're restoring black OEM seats, you're in sort of in luck, BUT the top piece that goes into the seat NLA. SOL for tan/red seats though. Here's the details from Ray:

Available in black only $75.07 ea
The part that attaches to the seat cover at the top does not come with it, and is not available.

Thanks
Ray

Ray,

I'm restoring my tan leather FD seats, and I was wondering if Mazda still has those seat belt guide pieces (plastic top & bottom parts, with fabric straps)? Attached a picture to describe the parts I'm talking about. If they do, what are the prices for all the parts to do both driver & passenger seats?

If they don't, I suppose I can have a leather guy make me some matching straps and use those fabric snaps to attach them to the new leather seat skins, functionally similar to the OEM setup.

Thanks,
Pete

I got the bottom parts (2) for $96 shipping included from Japan.
The top parts are not available.
Its the top part alternate mechanism I am trying to figure out.

If you have a good working top, just color over it with a black sharpie marker like I did , still holding well after 3 years.

My tops are not in good shape, they won't lock in cause the tab is worn out.
Also one has already be glued back together by previous owner.

This guide from Braum fits really well, may need to add an inch to the velcro strap.

Keep your eye out for really trashed old seats people might be discarding. Chances are the guide clip might still be attached.

The plastic part should be a good candidate for 3D printing and the metal part can likely be fashioned out of tin sheet (like from a tin can).

Make sure to rescue the plastic backing plates. They don't even seem to have a part number.

There is actually a zipper that runs around the arch of the headrest opening.

Good luck digging in there though.

So NLA they are NPN.
