I thought in the spirit of April 1st, let's all share some Mechanics / Rotary Gags and Jokes. A few to get started:
Thread topic: Best Camshaft for my 13B TII FC?
"Every time an FD is LS Swapped, Felix turns in his grave. In a rather distinct pattern"
Story: Around 15 years ago I used to work in an auto wrecking parts yard. We were having a rather slow and boring day and one of the fellow parts pullers (who wasn't too bright) was getting on my nerves while I was stripping tyres off rims and sorting them. I went to the front office and asked the yard manager, Steve, to give him something to do and went back to work. 5 minutes later there was a call over our yard radios from Steve to have him go to the storage shed and retrieve a radiator for a '67 Volkswagon Beetle. Didn't see him til knock off time.
I’m now going a different direction with my 1000 whp 5 rotor Rocket Bunny build… with a Pikachu wrap, and parting out the car.
If you see ANYTHING you like, tell me what it is and make me an offer.
i saw the guy this weekend so i'm thinking about this, but one of my dads friends had this dusty old car under the Lionel train set in the garage when i was a kid.
it turned out to be a Ferrari 250GT SWB, and at some point he pulled it out of the garage and started taking it to car shows. he got invited to Pebble Beach and came in 3rd
he placed 3rd because the head bolts they used on the engine didn't have the correct logo on them...
concourse story #2, Frankie the parts manager of the other Mazda dealer has a really really really nice Miata (1992 Sunburst yellow) and we went to one of the earlier miata shows, and he took home the "best miata" trophy. so the next year he took the car again, and the head judge walks over and goes you're not going to win this year,
and when we were all surprised, he goes there is a dead bee under the headlight (there was, big one too)
Frankie was pissed! lol
i'm not sure when this happened, but we hired a guy to do wholesale, Chappy. who is British. (he even had a Rover SD1)
and one of our customers, Mr Rink was a pilot, in the Luftwaffe. (he was also a huge rotary fanatic, he had met Kenichi Yamamoto, and visited the factory etc.)
so we're sitting in the office, and Kevin asks, hey Chappie, where are you from?
he says Croydon.
Mr Rink says, oh i bombed Croydon
so my friend Ben, aka NODE and i were at the Monterey historics, and Mazda had a bunch of 787's in a line, and the FC.
Ben walks up to the #55 car and goes hey can i sit in this
and the guy was like, are you crazy? here sit in this other one.
so Node got to sit in either the 792 or the other 787B
but i can't find that pic, so you get the one of us measuring the exhaust, its exactly 15/16th a Node-head
