8 wires related to A/T go to plugs 1, 3 and 4 in the later ECUs, as that's the full complement used in versions I-III to control the tranny, odds-on that outlet is not populated in any capacity.

BC California Dealer 40405

Friend has tracked the original sale of his car to a California dealer. Dealer number 40405. Seems that dealership number no longer exists. Is there any way to find out who and where that dealer was?

it was
Assael Mazda
1425 S Mountain Ave
Monrovia, CA 91016
818-357-2271, i wouldn't expect them to answer....

i was lucky enough to think to keep a dealer code book from the 90's, these things change hands a lot more than one would think

oh and Monrovia is between Pasadena and San Dimas

lol... i was going to say this is silly/ too much work, but this was the first one in the book....

41417
Alhambra Mazda
2121 West Main Street
Alhambra CA 91801
818-576-2800

40302
Guy Schmidt Mazda
425 South Brand
Glendale CA 91204
818-240-3900

so back in Ye Olde times there were 5 distributors that were merged to form Mazda USA. each distributor/zone gets a different number, west coast is 4.
then the rest of the dealer number actually goes with the owner of the franchise. so just for example, my Alma Mater, 41178 has been owned by Kevan Del Grande since 1982, and in that time, they have moved it twice, and its now Capitol Mazda, because its on Capitol Expressway (in the Almaden Valley), but its still 41178.

the dealership across town, Oak Tree, was 40701 when it was owned by the Allison Family, but when the Del Grandes bought it, it becomes 42004.
