You should check the Mfg date of your car. FWIW, its impossible to have an original CYM that is not a '93 (your car must have been repainted, or its really a '93).

Here's the answer for that JDM FD:

They had dual oil coolers, suede seats, front and rear strut bars, upspec tyres, hard dampers, and front and rear spoilers.

Also available at that time was the Type X (luxo pack, "touring" in the US) and the Type S (pov pack).

^ Looked at that one. Car's history isn't quite together and it's had some paint work.

Well....since the guy I was looking at buying it from isn't selling it anymore, I guess it doesn't really matter. But this is what I found out about that car.

Current owner bought it from a guy in Alabama (this kid is a piece of work BTW). I hired an appraisal company to go and look at the car while I was doing some investigative work on the VIN. Ran the VIN at my local Mazda dealership and the last recorded mileage was 50k. Interesting...so I called the dealership that ran that mileage in the system in Alabama (I think) and asked them what work they performed. They told me that the ODO wasn't working so by default they ran the mileage as 50k since it seemed logical for a 20 year old car. They recommended replacing the ODO.

Now, the dealership that recorded the mileage at that time, which I think was back in like 2009 or something. At that time, a loan shark company owned the car and repossessed it back as it was signed for collateral. I called that company but they weren't legally able to give me info on the previous owner due to the obvious legal issues. Naturally, red flag.

The next owner purchased it from the loan shark company and the ODO still wasn't working, had the car for a couple months, sold it to his buddy that pretty much did all the mods you see on it now.

Now we're up to the previous owner (the one before now). This is where the kid tried to fudge the system. He ordered a new cluster from Ray (I know because I called him), and slapped it in the car. When you buy a new cluster, Ray sends this sticker with it that for the dealer that installs it to put in the dealer code and the previous mileage. Well, this guy just slaps the sticker on with Ray's dealer code (which is in Woodbridge, VA) and a previous mileage sticker of 2000.

As seen here: That's Ray's dealer code FYI

This guy lives in Alabama so how could Ray's dealership have done the replacement?
That's because he didn't.

What bothered me about this whole mess, is the car *could* have been the lowest mileage CYM in the country but because this kid just swapped it out and doesn't have the old cluster anymore, all the history is gone. The only place mileage is recorded in the whole car is in the cluster.

And beyond the obvious mileage issues, the car was just really out of whack, frame wise from what my assessor told me. None of the gaps lined up, the paint was all sorts of different shades.

I have a whole folder on my comp dedicated to this car cuz I was sooo pumped when I found it.

Then, game over.

Nice detective work. I remember the Carfax showing quite a few owners and at least one title replacement across different states; GA and AL I think. The current dealer has the car priced at a premium and acknowledged the car "is not a time capsule" so I left it there.

It depends on miles, mods, paint quality, history..etc

Moehler (I think I spelled that right) is selling his for $25k with 60k miles on it, putting down 450hp. It's a beautiful car and is definitely worth what he's asking. So, that should be your baseline to go off.

CYM was only produced in 93 in the US. Every yellow one thereafter is sunburst yellow, not CYM.

I don't know much about JDM FD's but his VIN plate clearly shows his paint color to be J9 and that = CYM. One thing is for sure: his car is not a 96 like he believed it to be.

Yep, not a 96 like the title said.... and i was hoping for. I'm fine with 92, neither were available in the US at the time.

But yes, Color Code on vin plate does state J9,.

Can Someone from japan confirm there where CYM in japan/europe?

I get more lost the more questions i ask about this car haha
