Actually, if the lip was all shiny and black I'd be suspicious. As it wouldn't match the mirrors. .

to part one, you wont find a new car thats like the FD. the CEO of Ford apparently had a picture of the FD in his office, and used it as an example of what not to build. Ford's going out of business plan does have its own wikipedia page, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Way_Forward
two, i also find the FD the most fun when its nearly stock. stock with a DP is a hoot!
three; check out the ND miata, it feels like the FD when you sit in it.

I hear you. The cayman is close but too big and ugly.
YEP........love a mostly stock FD
With the added power the miata is finally below 6 seconds to 60 but still that's a very slow car in today's world of sports cars. It needs 250 at the wheels and then it would be a hoot. I may get one or something similar as I get older as my DD but still lovin the FD for now.

You guys got me wondering about the bottom of my car. If surface rust on a bolt is considered rusty..
edit: ah ok, it's a bit more than that.
Not to derail this convo much, but the ND1 is a fantastic car, the ND2 is even better. If my motor swapped NA ever got totaled I think I'd just hit the easy button with an ND2 with boltons and be done with it. No desire to build another car.

On a typical well kept FD even with 50k miles there's no rust on the cross member etc... This car was driven in bad weather and sat in the sun for long periods of time. The windshield was replaced; car of the year sticker gone, screw caps on cowl missing and weather stripping popping out. To me that's not something I expect on a low mileage FD.
Here's a car from the same area which may or may not still be for sale that would likely be a better overall car or one I'd consider: https://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-sale/vehicledetails.xhtml?listingId=484981046&zip=22901 &referrer=%2Fcars-for-sale%2Fsearchresults.xhtml%3Fzip%3D22901%26modifyS earchId%3Dnull%26startYear%3D1993%26sortBy%3Dderiv edpriceDESC%26incremental%3Dall%26firstRecord%3D0% 26endYear%3D1995%26modelCodeList%3DRX7%26makeCodeL ist%3DMAZDA%26searchRadius%3D0&startYear=1993&numR ecords=25&firstRecord=0&endYear=1995&modelCodeList =RX7&makeCodeList=MAZDA&searchRadius=0&makeCode1=M AZDA&modelCode1=RX7&clickType=listing
PS: YEP the miata is a great car and praised for decades for a reason I just wish mazda would add some frikken power even if it's just a special addition model like they've done in the past.

There is no reason to damage and lose the cowl screw caps unless you are replacing the windshield.
However I'm just guessing based upon the clues I see and don't know for a fact that the windshield was replaced.

I wouldn't call an FD with low miles a loss of years of driving enjoyment...it's not like I enjoy commuting or sitting in traffic with it, so I just use it as a fun car when I'm in the mood and it would take me years to put on 15k miles or so. Besides, track mileage doesn't really increase the odometer all that much and is much more fun than running errands with it.

This one will be interesting to watch today. Almost 70k miles but it is a 98 6 speed. Ill predict it hits around 70K.
