That wheel fitment alone (and on the primary picture at that) is enough to subtract $10k+ USD

Will be very interesting to see what this one does on BaT. Seems like this is the type of modified car BaT would not have accepted in the past, or am I imagining that?

back in the day the cool kids put 245/45/16's on the stock wheels. subsequently we've learned that on an 8" wheel, 225's are probably better, or more optimal, if you're turning.
if you're just going straight, then it doesn't matter, so huge hp on stock wheels, 255's in the rear might be fine

The tires are also basically slicks, I imagine the combination of the giant oversized sidewalls and aggressive compound makes this car feel spooky in the corners.

Spooky, just sitting in the driveway!

This is what a lot of people think they want though.

I think it will spark a lot of imagination(s).

He'll have to get a decent number just to cover the cost of the single conversion. And I'll never understand why some people don't properly clean their cars before listing for sale....

A few observations-
The small/choking air filter is off in the photos
The claimed 550whp with no meth is risky
The car appears to have been repainted
The owner appears to be naïve in regards to details about the car
People are going nuts about asking for compression numbers already

Compression tests are simple.

You have to wonder why people are so ambivalent toward them.

All the alternatives to no compression tests do not hold water in my opinion.

Also there is a big mistake in the 1993 USDM FSM, that has probably miss-lead a generation of RX7 owners and mechanics.

JDM FSM minimum acceptable compression is 100psi at 250 rpm within 2000 feet of elevation.

The 1994/95 USDM FSM was corrected to that.

1993 USDM FSM set the minimum at 85 psi.

No wonder the cars had a bad reputation when mechanics were telling people the cars were OK at 85 psi, and a week later the engine fails?

Really surprised this thing is going for as much as it is. Already at $60k and still climbing.

I imagine the big power single setup combined with basically stock everything else is an appealing combination for people - it's basically a blank canvas for your modified FD build. I still think chassis bracing would be a smart mod for a car with this much power and grip.

Count me as equally surprised. Not well presented IMO and I think there were a number of unanswered questions. I'd have a hard time buying pretty much any car without seeing/driving, but one modified like this would certainly need an in-person inspection. Maybe the buyer did that but for some reason I doubt it.

It is obvious that people value a quality build. I say that because a 56k mile stock car just doesn't bring in $63k (at least not these days).

With that said, modding cars is a labor of love because even at $63k, the owner is not making a profit on the mods.

Not making a profit, but the buyer is saving a year of time and shake-down and some money. It's a sleeper, stock body with what is probably the most desirable single conversion. I'm not surprised at all.

I thought it would go higher for the reasons just stated above.

I have seen local guys convert their stock LHD to whatever at considerably more cost.

That said, that BAT allowed a car with this much mods to list, and the auction went well enough, is instructive.

A local sale of such car in our market may have found a more motivated buyer.

Cars coming into our market, even from other provinces have to pass vehicle inspections.

These kinds of concerns may have backed some buyers off this car.

The admission that the PO had put some sort of vintage plates on the car might have raised some questions about complications on returning it to regular registration.

It was also from the first movie and was one of the toretto cars, but redone for the second movie. I can't remember if it was the main one or a backup though.

This one just landed. I've never been a fan of Silver but this car looks mint and should bring in $100K+. I'll be watching this closely.

R1/R2 have always been my favorites which is why I'm glad I have a Type R.
