Impossible (only that many). Can't be. Other thread last count was 5500 or so, I thought.

I hope you are right and think that is as it should be. I wonder if that will ultimately be how BaT bidders see things. While I sometimes see Rx7 guys commenting and maybe even a few bidding, many bidders seem to be wealthy dilettantes who value some overly pure form of originality far more than they should. That makes for a conundrum. People have always complained about rotaries running too hot and detonating, but if you modify the car to reduce heat and detonation, it is no longer as valuable.

Also, just because they’re not registered doesn’t necessarily mean they no longer exist. They could be held up somewhere being preserved. Granted, I’m pretty sure a lot of them have surcome to an early demise. But I think there would be more than that still…

They should be registered to claim ownership no? Usually only flippers or junk yard don't register their cars, you also can't insure it if it is not under your name.

This may vary from case to case or insurer to insurer because I insure two cars that are not in my name and the insurer definitely knows.

Interesting, probably depend on state or company. When my parents move back oversea they left us 2 vehicles, and I can’t insure them unless I transfer the title and get them under my name.

exactly, there was an increase in R100's a couple years ago (last time i checked) it went from 10 to 11, so someone got one running.

editorial: and you thought the Ferrari GTO was rare, i've seen 11 of them in a row before! ive seen a pair of GTO's at a stoplight before. i've never seen an R100 on the street, and Sevenstock will only have 2-3 of them.

My ex-coworker doesn't work at the company anymore that had access to the database. If there is a way to only do a one time search, you'll want to use a database that has registered vehicle information. Polk Predictive Automotive was the previous source.

It's been 5 years, time flies!

The reality is that my remaining time at work is getting very short and I plan on moving somewhere very remote (think long gravel roads and ferry crossings). It's just not practical to keep this!

it won’t be sold cheap, but my reserve is actually reasonable for a build of this quality, I am legit selling it’s not a publicity piece.

current bid (~$20k) covers the cost of the basic body kit (no door handles, wing or ganadors)…let’s see how many other parts people are willing to pay for 🙂

Unique, rare and well sorted. I have to admit that there are not many FD's which fit my taste anymore but this is one of the very few I'd actually want to own. Screaming deal too I you asked me; whomever the new owner is going to be, is a very fortunate individual imo.

Best of luck with the sale and in your travels! Your new location sounds like a piece of heaven

Thanks for the support! I hope this sells for more than my reserve - I am regretting picking the number I chose.......

The more I look at the list of parts, work done and knowing how well this car runs makes me realize just how nice of a vehicle it is. It really is impressive in person, I always stop and stare whenever I walk into my garage. I couldn't buy anything new to this quality or performance for anywhere near my reserve. But life changes and it needs to be sold, I just hope the buyer appreciates and looks after it. Time will tell what happens!

Buyer same person who paid a record $400k for a 2003 Lamborghini Murcielago coupe with 2,900 miles (gated 6-speed) just a couple of weeks ago. Collector?

That type of money doesn't grow on trees...... usually to have that kind of money to burn on frivolous sports cars--- lots of blood, sweat, tears and sacrifices were made. And/or some savvy decisions were made in addition to all of the aforementioned. Point being--- nothing personal, but I've had that phrase said to me regarding my lowly Mazda collection and I felt like ripping the dude's head off . People have no idea what often/almost always is behind the success and fun toys.
