$25k. No reserve, 43k miles, 1 owner. Aside from the accident, is this really what dropped this cars final sale price by 5-10k or is the market starting to cool.
carfax accident explained by seller:
but the bottom line is there is NO paint on this car that was not applied at the factory. There is no body part that is not original to this car. There have been no dent removal or bondo (or whatever it’s called) to this car. There has been no damage repair to this car. So that’s the strange truth, no real damage but a lesson for an arrogant person. I will sign any legal or religious document stating that no body or paint work has ever been done to this car by anyone at anytime EVER. I was on a 3 day vacation when I got a call asking me to come in for a couple of hours. I was on vacation because I was tired from working 3 weekends in a row. To make the best of the situation I decided to drive the RX-7. I ran into a traffic jam in front of the local hospital and some guy in a Range Rover wanted to merge and I wanted to get to work and back home. I didn’t stop and neither did he and he RUBBED my car. I got out and he got out saying he was a surgeon and had urgent business and I should have let him go ahead. He also reminded me he was a surgeon and a very important person and I was “just driving a Mazda” I saw red and called the police. I guess he played the surgeon card with the policeman and got the same reaction (esp. since he was leaving the hospital). The policeman told me he was cited for failure to yield.

yea that accident puts it in the driver car range. to be in the collector car range they need to be pretty much perfect, no accidents, full service records, original equipment etc. I would say the car sold for a decent price for what it is.

FD market experts - I know modded cars are harder to value, but what would the $ range be for a single turbo 93 VR R1? Fresh professional rebuild, brand name parts, totally turn-key streetable, 100k original miles backed with detailed history + build history, original docs and clean title/carfax. The closest I can find is this listing on the forum https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generati...-7-r1-1135996/ @29k...

In regard to modified RX7s, for me, when a car passes a certain threshold of aftermarket parts (single turbo conversion for example) the value added by the trim of the car rapidly plummets to zero. If someones car is single turbo, tuned suspension, blah blah - R1/2 and Base are now the same thing. I'm sure many others won't agree but that's how I see it.

Most collectors will probably feel the same way you do. For me it's all about the purpose of the car. My car is single turbo aspec built by Kilo Racing and is a weekend car with an occasional roadcourse trackday. To the average car guy that may mean less money but I built the car for me to drive and enjoy not to store for someone else. I love the fact that values of the fd are going up but it wont change the way I use the car. For those who are concerned about car values buy two rx7s. One to drive and enjoy and one unmolested rx7 fd that you dont drive.

This. You only live once so enjoy the car that you truly want to have, and ride the coat tails of those who chose to have museum pieces.

If done well, I'll very likely pay a premium for a modified FD, as I intend to drive it hard and have fun with it. What I was trying to say before is that if an FD is highly modified and it happens to also be an R1/2 - I'm not going to pay more for it due to its trim because once an FD is modified enough, being an R1/2 doesn't mean anything anymore. I've seen people list a highly modified FD before but they still ascribe an extra value to them due to their car being an R1/2 and I think that's silly.

Here is what looks like a clean CW. I wonder if the black carpet and door panels are original. Interesting to see R1 seats in there.

Here's what is going to happen in the next 50 years:
Electric cars/trucks win.
Gas Turbines will still be viable.
V configured piston engines will establish a "finalist" (Ferrari/Ford flat cranks or Chevy LS V8 series?)
Inline configured piston engines will establish a "finalist" (2JZ or newer BMW?)
Flat configured piston engines have been decided. (Air-Cooled Porsche)
Radial configured piston engines have been decided. (classic aviation mostly)
Wankel power is won by MAZDA cars, specifically the FD RX7.
Ha, no one knows, but I bet the rotary powered car lives forever

Been following this one for a while, it was listed for $32,500 for a few months then was re-listed as an auction where it only fetched $18k. The reserve wasn't met so it was relisted back at $32,500 and has now disappeared.

I now have no idea why or what drives value on the FD, my expectation is that it's only worth what someone is willing to pay and in this case it was $18k.
Edit: i'll add that this is still available on their website for 32k.

as far as pricing goes I think it is pretty straight forward to value stock or reliability modded cars. beyond that and the potential market for the car narrows with body mods and cosmetic mods in general being the most subjective and narrow.

^ Yup, left the headliner and seat belt tan, broken seat belt strap on driver seat, so many flaws you can see in those poor pictures. Can't tell the paint condition, pictures look like they are taken with 80's film camera, I thought this is a MB until I read the description. 90k chassis/40k engine mile with no pictures, there's just way too many unknown and we haven't even check the car history. People aren't going to blindly bid on a car without all the details, and the one who did their homework aren't going to show you the answer.
