How to remove the ****/shift auto lever?

How to remove the ****/shift auto lever?

There are two screws on the **** but once the screws removed the **** doesn't come off...

There is a wire tthat keeps the **** attached ( prob. the hold button feature wire)

Yeiks!! Don't cut any wires if you don't have to. Follow the wire from the shift **** to its connector. Then push the connector pin out of the body of the connector. Like this example.
