Buying Rx7
Buying Rx7
I’m new to rotaries and rx7 fd buying, and wanted to ask if it would be possible to get a fd for 10k now a days, the mileage can be terrible as long as the car can run and have no heavy duty scratches on it. I doubt it would be possible but still good to ask.
Welcome to the forum.
Running and driving? Unless you score the deal of the century, it's very unlikely. Most rollers are going for more than $10k these days. I'd say you're going to need to increase your budget if you want to get into an FD. Good luck.

Is it possible to get an RX-7 for $10k or even less? Sure. It is just going to take more work to find that deal.
An RX-7 that you can make run and drive is the easy/cheap part. Getting one that isn't a basket case - messed up interior, bad body, bad wiring - THAT is the stuff that you will go broke or never be able to make right. Interior parts are super pricey and rare, cars that have had wiring hacked up can be a nightmare to troubleshoot, and cars with poor body work, wrecked and poorly repaired, etc.will never be straight and good again with out a huge pile of money and time.
In other words, that money you save up front could mean you end up paying many times that amount to have a car that's even decent.
If you don't have money to put into it going forward this may not be the car for you. The FD is an amazing car and deserves to be cared for and treated right, and doing it right can be pricey.

So I'm looking into getting my 2nd FD and like Dale said, unless you score the deal of the century it's not gna happen. These days you'd be lucky to score a FC for that. I have been looking for a shell for years and have just come to the conclusion that it just makes more sense to buy a running and driving example. Engines are scarce and expensive, interior pieces are NLA, and many of sensors and other small things needed will run up the bill quickly. The prices are rising on these cars fast, so get in while you can...and bring your checkbook.
