Wow! We must have had an age of innocence here in Western Canada, when hundreds of JDM were (are) imported without reports of this kind of huge rip-off coming out. (Just smaller scale rip-offs.)
Maybe the cars were just so cheap no one really knew, or cared, they were getting ripped, haha.
Now that the $ are much more significant, one will have to have their guards up, no doubt.
When it comes to a major purchase as this, in a completely different part of the world, it’s best you have a solid contact that either lives there or does a lot of business.
hard to tell which companies or sites are legit when it comes to these things. Sucks to read you got scammed.
hopefully you get all your money back. Would’ve been really sweet to get a sprint r… alas, the hunt continues?
I'm skinny, I'll fit the stock ones fine and I've seen a bunch of sets here. But for $12k I'm getting seats that can recline. Crazy money for fixed-back buckets, not worth it at all. Earlier RZ seats also came in Miatas, they aren't insanely rare by any means.
Just get a regular FD and start colleting the Spirit R stuff:

Wheels: - $5000
Spirit R Fake Badging - $300

Spirit R shift ****: $200
Re-wrap Steering Wheel with red stitching : $100
Fake Spirit R red floor mats: $200

Am I missing anything?
[Yellow Bilstein Shocks: Used $500; Drivers door kneepad: $200; RX8 4.8 ratio LSD: $800]
Extra oil cooler (RB came with one not two), tinted rear glass, bigger brakes, bigger dust shields, braided brake lines, bigger calipers, different exhaust to suit 280ps turbos (255ps was more restrictive than 280ps type), rear wing (RB didn't come with one, only RB-S), red strut brace, RS/RZ/Spirit R type manual transmission (different 5th gear to suit 4.3 diff), spirit r instrument cluster, red stitched gear boots, red stitched handbrake and boot, BBS wheels.
That's becoming an expensive exercise to replicate it all.
Please leave some spare parts to allow actual Spirit Rs to be maintained!

I would imagine at the ever rising price point, most people looking for a Spirit R aren’t going to settle for a fake. They want the Spirit R for the collector value.
Sorry to hear your troubles OP. I was on pins an needles all month regarding my car, especially after the wire transfer went out.
BUT sourced from auction, through Japan Car Direct. Very good team.
Kypreo brought up some excellent points when looking at the auction- it’s amazing how emotion gets in the way, because buying these is the same as any other car- look for accident history, get as many updated photos, etc.
My car came out of JU GIFU! Haha I knew what I was getting into though.
Perhaps you will have better luck with a more honest company!
PS: Now that I’m neck deep into the JDM FD, I inevitably follow Redbul everywhere.
