1994 fd high pitch noise *** please help ***

Hello fellow rotarians,

I just purchased a 1994 RHD FD in the UK and a buddy from FDOC.co.uk tested it out. He found that with the key in ON position the car makes a strange high pitch noise for about 10 sec. Here is a link to the video of this noise. Has anyone here ever heard anything like this? The car has a HKS single turbo intake and a PFC mapping for sea level.

thanks

^Yep, I've seen ISC's make weird noises. White connector on back of upper intake manifold.

Unplugging IACV didn't make the noise go away. The noise is intermittent.

Sounds like the kettle is ready
Unplug the air pump and see if the noise persists. Check the sound this cheeky bugger makes: https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generati...video-1149048/

Edit - just realized that I read your original post wrong. If it's happening with the key on but engine not running, check if one of the vacuum chambers is leaking air. IIRC, I think some of them hold air/vacuum with the car off. Energizing the electrics via the key on could trigger a solenoid to fire off and bleed air out.

Check that your plugs are firmly set into the ECU. I had a similar issue after removing my dashboard and found a plug loose.

Will check the ECU connectors once I get the car in about 10 days. Its on the vessel coming from the UK. I suspect connectors on ECU and/or instrument cluster may be loose since some dashboard instruments are not working.

Hey there, I should have mentioned, I am new to FD engine, could you please be more specific as to what to check regarding vacuum leak (e.g. IIRC ?). As soon as I get the car in about 10 days, I will start troubleshooting all recommendations I got so far. thanks
