Starting Problem Persists
Ok, intermittent starting problems, the starter would only engage after i would click the ignition two or three times, other times it would engage on the first turn. I took it to my mecahnic, he thought it might be the inhibitor switch, replaced it and the problem still occurred. Next step the starter solenoid. Replaced that and no luck. Next thing that was replaced was the starter, i got the car back this afternoon picked it up from his shop and it started perfectly. Went home let it sit for about three hours and go back out. Go to start the car and what happens, it doesn't start, it takes about three turns of the key until the starter went. Then when i got home i turned it off, then restarted it and it started on the first try....
Also when my mechanic tested the voltage at the starter he would get 11-12 volts i went to start he car, on the times the starter wouldn't engage he would get 7-8 volts...
Please Help
Thanks

Does the problem only happen after the car is warm? I've been told that the ground wire to the starter is very thin and poorly insulated and that after it gets hot the electrical resistance can increase to the point where it will not ground the starter. I had a simialr problem and after cleaning my ground strap and adding a few extras it went away.

I have a 93 Rx-7 and also have the same problem. My garage changed out the ignition switch and it helped for a little bit but I still have the same problem. I have a turbo timer that I think is wearing out the switch .I have replaced the starter motor, battery, wiring harness, and ignition switch and am still having problems. The next try will probably be the ground wire when I get my battery relocation kit from M2. I will let you know how it turns out.
