Post Some Pics of your FD! :D <- Pics of your car go in this thread!!
They are one of the top RX-7 tuners in the UK, they come up with a new drag/track car each year. Typically with an off the wall paint scheme (Bassboat green with huge multi-colored flakes) or something more subtle that will still stand out in a crowd.
I'm guessing you guys got bored and decided to go the (all out) rat rod route this year? lol

Hey guys..
some pics of a track-day here in germany!
I must say... I really like it how she looks on the track :-)
Performance was great overall... What Iīve learned is:
3+ year old brake fluid and a stuck brake piston isnīt good on the track..
At end of round N° 1 braking was really bad..
at round N°4 the brake was completely dead...
Seems like the time has come for a BBK!
here some impressions:

Ah well, I guess the fella's at Dragon got their horn tooted for free then (and I was a solid supporter/customer of their rival, RE:worx, while I lived out there).
I just redid my seats (again) in a lipstick red BMW leather that won't fade as much as the all natural hides I had used before. I perforated the hide used on the seat bottoms and backs and added some rolls. I put in a cream perforated headliner to open it up a bit.

eep what kind of time does the FD do on Hockenheim? It is one of my favourite tracks to drive. I was racing F3 this year on the circuit, so I am curious how far off a quick FD is.

I'm looking to upgrade the stock intercooler and was wondering if a front mount will give me too high temps down here in Miami. or if it's just too much hassle to install.
its the temps down here man...laz ^^ used to have a front mount...but its just better to get as much flow as possible to the radiator...a cool motor is much more important than cold intake temps
Hey..
I cannot provide you resilient times.
It was my first time with the FD on the Hockenheimring.
AS Iīve written, my brakes were damaged and I had real bad brakeing performance.
on my first round where I wanted to drive a bit faster and knew a bit about my cars performance and the ideal line, my brakes went completely. (it was the 4th overall round)
Also my tires were 6year old Goodyear Eagle F1... so not the best choice for the track.
My fastest round (still checking the best line and already with bad bad brakes) was a 2:16min but half the round I stuck in traffic behind a Golf 5 GTI
On those "tourist" - driving days there are 60 - 100 cars on the track. from Porsche 993 GT2 race cars + 997 GT3RS over Nissan GTRs to Ford Fiestas and Suzukis ... everything is on the track.
So it is impossible to drive a fast round.
I think on a more or less free round, better tires and a working brake, a low 2.00min would be possible...
But I can only tell you next year.
I donīt think that you can compare formula 3 times with a street-FD .
Only in the motodrom, the formula car would be min. 10sec faster then a road car on the tourist drives. Only estimated.

The hockenheimring is a really hard track for the brakes..
So before Iīll buy everything new for my stock brakes I think It`ll be smarter buying a BBK.. I`m checking now which one... best between performance, quality and price.
Nevertheless, it was big fun!
and also with my bad tires, cornering performance was superb! Rx-7 FDs ftw!
@ supernaut,
I wanted to change everything in the winter.
tires, brake pads, brake fluid, brake lines etc.
I think it could have worked. But the stuck brakepiston heated the whole thing up excessively... without this malfunction.. it may have worked. But you are right... It would have been smarter changing the fluid before the trackday...
I wont repeat this fault!
here is a video where my car can be seen for a few secs.
On the first round I was driving infront of that Subaru (unfortunately not on the video
) and behind the GTR. Then I let the Subaru pass because I recognized my braking problem
