this month car and driver

Anyone seen that?

what the hell is wrong with peter's car, 600hp and 12,1 sec on 1/4 mile? is he just a bad driver or did he have problems?

Wink

I think it had something to do with the tire set up. They were only allowed to run street tires. The test was supposed make the cars come in being street legal. Also a certain amount of tread wear. Although the article is pretty damn good. It is good to see the Rx7 clan sticking their noses in when even the likes of Ferrari and Lamborghini are scared!!!!!G.......

great little article. somewhere on the lounge someone posted a pic of the page on the rx7. basically they picked 6 supertuned cars and put them through a road course then judged them on top speed and peter farrell's 20b rx7 came in 2nd behind the 2000 ligenfelter (sp?) vette. it did have the fastest lap time though.

Question

It was an interesting article, and very nice to see Rx-7s in print in the big mags these days. : )

Anyone know where to get the modern-looking front turn signals he had on there?

Yea i read the article. They said the rx7 had a couple of problems. Go figure. But anyway, it did come in second and had the quarter in 12.1 i think. The vette came in first.

The PFS car had a 3-rotor 20B in it, and the front signals are from a 99-spec model, I believe.

I was thrilled when I got the issue in the mail yesterday....C&D gave it a poor rating in drivability and durability, but it was had the best laptime by far (I think it was like ~2secs ahead of 2nd place), and the 1/4 time was still among the fastest 3.

It's a great issue...go pick it up!

Did anyone else notice the times for the road course section alone? There were three cars tied for the fastest time during the road course section: The PFS RX-7, the RennTech Mercedes, and a BONE STOCK 2002 Z-06!!! Is that some kind of misprint? Or did the bone stock Z-06 actually make these tuners look like fools in the twisties?

Peter Ferrel has that car in his showroom, and I have to admit, it is pretty impressive. They had to move the motor back and it looked like they cut the firewall back abit to get the damn thing to fit. The intake manifold is sitting directly underneath where the winsheild wipers are. Now thats back pretty far. Its not as clean as it appears in the magazine either. But hey, who cares, for gods sake its a 20B.

Okay I need a scanner.

Too bad the 7 had the problems it did that day. It would have been so nice for the car to have a good day and really smoke everything out there. I think a car from M2 would have done better.

All I gotta say is think about it this way, the rx7 was the 2nd. least expensive car in the test, and ran the roadcourse in the fastest time, if you made all the supercars tested run a 25 lap race through that roadcourse, the RX7 would beat it's closest official roadcourse competitor(Mallet 435S Corvette) by 1min. 15sec., on a raceday that's clearly domination!, Nevermind how much further back the rest of the competition would have finished.
