When you get your car, do your basic maintenance first.

Change the fuel filter. This should be done every 15,000 miles and its very important. If the fuel gets blocked, your engine could blow.

Also change the coolant, if this hasn't been done in the past year.
Oil change every 3,000 miles, and changing the air filter would also be a good idea.

After the basic maintenance is done, then start doing the reliability mods. Go to this site and do what it suggests:

Only after this is done should you consider performance mods. Again, consult the robinette website and this forum for advice on mods. If you over-modify and don't make sure you're getting enough fuel, you could end up blowing your engine.

No offence, but if your only 17 an RX7 isn't for you especially if you don't have much money. You go throwing mods on it like your talking about and you'll be needing a motor too. The RX7 is a very delicate car and being as young as you, you'll end up hurting yourself.

you seem to have your mind set on this car and since the others haven't given much info, i'll help. like JConn2299 said you should do all the basic maintenance and that will help alot. in terms of modification mods you will want to replace the plastic AST with a metal one or just bypass it.

you'll also want to replace the precat with a downpipe. personally i like the apex'i n1 single, or gt a lot more, and it comes with silencers too. you could get a stock mount intercooler from m2 and a drop in k&n and just mod the air box. and yes you will need a new chip, if you do 3 or more mods you need to get reprogrammed. you also don't seem to know that this car is a very expensive car to maintain, and your insurance will be sky high. the exhaust, intercooler and chip will already be over $2000. and then you need to pay to have someone install unless you do it yourself.

If you can i would get a aftermarket warrenty, since the car has some what low miles.Trust me it will pay off in the end
I bought a rex with a new motor and a warrenty came with it,that was the best thing i've done, was getting one with a warrenty
It cost alot of money to register the car,and do all the fluid changes, filters, and spark plugs changed,oh and insurance i'm 21 in florida and had to put down 450 and have 225 month payments for six months, that was the cheapest, and i have a clean driving record.
Know i've owned my rex for a year i had to do the following:
2 oil leaks,rear main seal,other was a oil pan,cost about 2K
Vacum hose popped of map sensor
new tranny 3.5K
new PCM 1.2 K
new Motor 4.5K
new turbo 3.5K
new Radiator 500
new Ac compressor 2K
those where the main things,i had alot of other stuff go wrong like precat, mid cat clogged, muffler has huge hole, window washer pump broke,It's endless The reason why i had to get a new motor was my fault i overheated, cause i didn't change out the thermostat when i bought it,and the gauges in the rex suck, then you also have to get tire and brale pads,so my point being get a warrenty and have money set a side, and another thing is don't make it your only transportation, cause it will leave you stranded, and good luck finding a good mechanic, mines 75 an hour!Oh i forget my car is stock, with a down pipe.I still love it and will never sell it!
