I can smell something burning when I drive my car hard. Its not a oil burning smell, " this sounds funny, but if you take a wet-damp dirty basement and heat it up a few hundred deg. thats what it smells like". It smells the strongest right behind the throtle body, on the drivers side. Can any one tell me what this is caused by?

 

hmm.. its on the driver's side so it's probably not the pre-cat if you have one. If it doesn't smell like burning oil, coolant or burning insulation, I'd shrug it off to a dead rat.
