How critical to do ECU upgrade??? Will it blow??

In addition to the upgrades listed in my sig I also plan to replace the dp probably w/ a pettit, eliminate the ast an probably put in a fluidyne radiator. What would happen if i didn't upgrade the ECU yet....Is this risky as far as detonation and engine life is concerned??? Comments Please!!

as of right now, you are a little past border line. go for a little redline run on a cold night with your current setup and you might blow it. add a pownpipe and you will for sure, even if its not cold out. you should have gotten an ECU before your last mod.

yeah, i've read that a downpipe is the only REAL bolt
on that is safe without a computer,

intake or exhaust, are probly ok alone, but I definetely
wouldnt do em all at the same time without a puter!

your just pushing more and more air through the engine,
without enough fuel to mix with it!

Which is where the power that those mods give you is
coming from! They increase air flow! and as stated
earlier, with increased airflow, you need increased fuelflow!

There are all kinds of maps you can use (I think) and if you talk w/ others that have the PFC (not me, unfortunately) that also have similar mods, you can tweak the PFC to pretty close numbers until you get your ride on a dyno.

I'm sure I'll be posting a thread about this very thing when I can afford the PFC (which will come after the exhaust and IC upgrades...).
