Car died while racing
I went out racing Friday night, and after a few runs(wins
)I ran a new Z28 with flows. He took me by about a car the second time, which just didn't seeem right to me. After the race while breaking, my RPMs dropped to zero, and I got no response from hitting the gas. The engine continued to run until the car came to a stop, then it shut down. I let the car sit about 10 minutes, then went to turn it back on and it started right back up and seemed fine, though I haven't been driving it hard since then. Anyone have an idea of what could've happened? I'm wondering if it had something to do with the fact that I had a half tank of 91 octane 'cause that's all I could find.

Happened to me
The same thing happened to me although I haven't been able to get mine to start back up. My problems began much the same as yours. I had just filled up with 91 at Chevron when my problems began. I'm still trying to figure mine out. We've got it narrowed down to a fuel delivery problem. I'll be replacing my fuel filter soon and my mechanic also said that if that doesn't work then I'll be replacing my fuel injectors as well. What octane do you usually use? Many other rotorheads believe my problems to be a clogged fuel filter. We'll see.
Well, when I'm in Pennsylvania I use 93, but since I've been in California for the summer they only have 92, and just recently they started switching them all to 91. I think I'm going to start running some octane boost soon, just want to do some homework on it first. I think I'll check out the fuel filter too. Thanks
We only have 91
Here in Utah we only have 91 octane. There's a place here that sells 94, but it's really expensive. I hadn't had a problem in the year I've had my 7, but the Chevron where I last filled up was the first time I had taken my car there. I hope you figure it out, good luck.

PSUR1, are you sure you didn't overheat the motor while racing? Often, an overheated motor will have trouble maintaining idle and often just stalls. Ten minutes later it could run just fine.
Seems to me like a failing fuel filter would have a negative effect on higher rpm operation, not idleing.

Try checking the map sensor. That's happens to me ALL the time.
It's up by the firewall on the right when facing the car. There should be a solitary vaccum hose connected to a tiny little box w/ MAO written on it. If the hose isn't plugged in,plug it in,THAT's your problem.
