yea its fried now what

After my car has been down for 4 months now I finaly opened up the ecu, to see if I managed to fry it when I stupidly hurried to get the car back to gether and hooked up the battery backward, and sure enough there was a capaciter or something like that which looked fried. It was black and it smelled like burning electronics.

Assuming that this was a result of my stupidity what else could have been ruined that may be the cause of my trouble. The trailing coil was ruined for sure.

Just buy another N326 computer from ????on the for sale/want to buy section of this forum.

I'd just look at the fuses in the engine bay and the cockpit. Outside of that it will probably work. What makes you think the trail coil assy is bad?????

I'll give you ten bucks and pay the shipping for your old ECU, if you want. Before you ask...no I don't have a spare to sell.

Car won't start for sure???

I repaced the blown fuse(it was a 7.5 inside the car) and borrowed a coil from a friend it it produced spark, where as mine didn't.

I beleive I read in one of ur posts that leading coils can be bad but still function until they are warm, or didn't you say that? anyway I figured that my leading coil may be bad also since my trailing one was?

Heres the deal with the car I thought the computer was bad but when I put a spare in the car wouldn't start at all where as it did with the original. Then I put the original back in and it still wouldnt start. I have been unable to start it for at least a month

I aprecciate all your help

Do you have a volt meter? No since writing any further if you don't. Not saying I can fix it, but can take a try.

EDIT: The car should be able to start and run just fine with only the lead coil assy working. Do you have 12v at the small, white connector at the LEAD coil assy. Just a two prong connector. One wire is black with a yellow stripe. It should have 12v with the key to on. Look at that first.

The starter does spin over. Right? Cranks the engine over??

note to self: never ask buddy to do anything under your hood!!

Did you check the 80Amp fuse under the hood?
I asked a buddy of mine to put my battery back in my 7 while i put the other one in my celica.. next thing you know the 7's horn is going nuts.. he hooked it up the wrong way..

It blew the 80Amp under the hood and a few inside because the door was open so those ones went

does it turn over when you turn the key?

yea at least 5 times(your talking about the one in the engine bay fuse box right) since this problem occured almost 4 months ago.

Could my cas or pressure sensor have been fried along with the ignitor and the computer?
