Thumbs down WTF, why my TII hood so heavy???

I just looked under the hood of a friend's 88 TII for the 1st time and when I lifted up his hood, it is so much lighter then mine! We both compared them and for sure, mine feels like it weighs twice as much or more! I got an 87 TII, did it change for 88 or something???

The most common reason that it might have a steel hood rather than an aluminum is that the hood was replaced in an accident with a steel version (which was cheaper for the body shops).

Mazda also made some on the 87-88 models intermittently.

I am sure someone will correct me if i am wrong. but;

there was no descrepency when mazda put the hoods on the 2nd gen rx7s'. it is just a random thing...some have steel and some have aluminum. even some N/A's had aluminum hoods(no scoop). It is my understanding that most of the aluminum hoods were on the TII though. kinda funny huh.

The steel hoods were used on early 87 TII's. After that, they used the aluminum hoods. In Japan, they continued to use the steel hoods in 88. I am not sure about after that. I have had both and have researched it.
You want an aluminum hood, obviously.
