Yeah I know a few stereo thiefs. They **** **** up seriously, break in fast. If the alarm goes off and they can't get it off, they;ll just steal your car and burn it. It's awful. But they don't come into my area cause the cops are strict as hell here and there are too many of em.

I can't help you out on the parts but go here for some of the stuff.

www.thepartstrader.com

I cannot recommend this site enough, but just make sure you use an Escrow service you don't get screwed even more. The parts from Mazda are pretty expensive, but try www.mazdatrix.com and get a few quotes from them. Victoria British sells the 'vert top, at www.victoriabritish.com

I guess that's a start.

there is a guy on e-bay who buys rx-7s and parts them out. I've bought stuff from him before and he is a straight shooter.

His e-mail is: ernstborchert4@hotmail.com

I'd suggest sending him a note, explaining your problem, and asking what he has, or if he could let you know when he gets in a car with the right color upholstery.

just backstopping, I believe that verts have a different side window setup than non-verts, and possibly different door panels. but i'm not sure, so find out before you buy.

and sorry for what happened to you. I live in the Washington, D.C., area, and a major hobby in the District itself is people slashing tops. I have a colleague who had a convertible Mustang who got the top slashed twice within a month -- the original and a replacement. It's amazing that some people consider vandalism to be cool.

That sucks dude. I've been there. When I had my N/A somebody pried up the corner of my hood above the battery and was unsuccessful in completing their mission.

I replaced the hood after forking out a deductible and then a month later I got up and the pass. window was smashed out and they got the stereo, some Serengetis and a couple other little things. Glass all over the interior. I was vacuuming glass for a couple of months.

This same car got rearended and also my neighbor backed into it one morning and took out my taillight. Had bad luck with this one.

Now, on my TII I have a Clifford w/hood pin near battery, hatch pin, interior motion sensor, glass-break sensor, back-up battery and an alert pager that goes off if a warning is set off. Antenna raises and sends signal.
