if its on the car you have in your sig might be the front cover o ring. i had a rebuild in my car and after about 5k miles i lost alot of oil pressure. i had alot like you warm is was normal but once it warmed up the pressure would go down to like 45 psi . and when i got on the engine the oil pressure dropped instead of raising. well after taking off my front cover it wasnt the o-ring but the oil pressure control valve had backed out of it its threaded hole. (i find that most people use a small amount of locktite to solve this from happening) aparently the person who rebuilt mine didnt as it only had a few more threads left on the bilt before it would have fallen into the oil pan. i would check simple things first like oil level and get a accurate working gauge on the oil system , check all the cooler lines for kinks and what not then if that doesnt yeild any reasults then maybe you want to take the engine back or take off the front cover and see whats up. BTW what oil filter are you using?? i have heard that non-oem filter tend to cause oil pressure problems. so that might be a route you want to try if its non stock ... and see if that works. good luck. i know the feeling and it tends to be scary till its fixed

Might also be the sending unit.. which would be the easiest thing to check.. unless you already have a aftermarket pressure guage.
Just swap the sending unit with another one, if you get a simlar reading.. look into front cover o-ring and regulator. Oil pump would be the last thing to check as it hardly fails.

The Oil pressure sending unit connector has been prone to disconnect on the rx7's I have owned and worked on. Posibbly your problem but it sounds unlikely as it would result in no pressure at all.

the sending unit is located on the drivers side of the engine. on the rear iron right next to the coolant pipe. its a mushroom looking like thing normally silver or bronze. but probobly covered in dirt

Check mazdatrix.com FAQ section. They have a nice write up on the front cover problem. I have rebuilt several of there engines and have seen this front cover seal fail a few times. I no longer use the teflon washer just RTV and the O ring. Also proper torqueing those bolts is crucial too. Im pretty sure you have a leaking front cover o ring right at the main output of the oil pump. Also likely the front or rear oil pressure regulators have loosened up if it was built by a rotary newbie. First replace the oil filter with a quality unit its cheap to elliminate that as a source. Second if your guage reads any pressure its not likely the sending unit. Third is a bit of work....read the FAQ I mentioned and drop the oil pan. Check the front and rear oil regulators this is a pain with the engine in the car but can be done. Youll need a 22mm wrench for the rear I believe and 19? for the front. If there tight only thing left is the front cover which is a pain to remove with the engine in the car but also can be done. All depends on your mechanical ability. I would not continue driving the car until you fix the problem. Just my opinion. Good luck.

yes, i would say get a machanical gauge in there, also if that reads low like that, its prob a bad themal pellet or front cover o ring, witch both i would go to the dealer before i messed with it
