Would it be dumb to ask questions about conversion in here?

Cause i was wondering how much work you have to put in to installing an LT1 on these things?

and if anyone's heard of possibilities of the SuperCoupe 3.8S/C motor on them...

any suggestions, idea's and what not would be appriciated.

thanks

Its copping out in my opinion.
Its easy to get more horsepower tiwht more cubes, but you get more respect by making power the originalway.
ANYONE can get 350 hp from a 350.

Cuz we own rotaries. It is the distinguishing mark of our cars. If we wanted a LT1, we would have bought a Z28 or a Vette. A LT1 powered RX-7 would be a great idea for a drag car, but as for daily driver, never. You better put on a flame resistant jacket, cuz if you keep up this thought process, you're gonna get majorly flamed around here. The only thing worse than a V8 swap, is going rice-boy around here. Good luck...

But, Sean, don't you have problems going home with your own girl???

^I agree, brother.^
If you want an LT1, buy a car that comes with it.

Damn straight!

It would be a massive amount of power though. The biggest thing is, it would destroy the 50/50 weight distribution that Mazda spent millions perfecting. If it ain't broke, don't fix it!! But hey, to each his own!! You do what ever makes you happy, just don't look for too much support around here!

Rico, I heard one guy talking about it really did not disturb the 50/50 of the car that much. The 911 Turbo isn't 50/50 I believe.

Don't even bring in Porsche 911's into the discussion.&nbsp I believe these things are more 40/60 weight distribution due to the rear engine bias.&nsbsp Why so off from the "ideal" 50/50?&nbsp Acceleration is better due to more weight transfer to the rear wheels.&nbsp Braking is superior due to more balanced (i.e. 50/50) dynamic weight under braking conditions - Porsche (911) brakes are UNREAL!

Usually I just keep quiet when I read these kind of responses, but I just wanted to add my 2 cents.

I'd rather own my RX-7 convertible with the L98 (L98 is a 85-92 Corvette/Z28 motor) than own any domestic Corvette, Camaro or Mustang with a V8. If you are willing to spend the money, this conversion still retains a lot (not all) of the benefits of owning a RX-7. Any of the people who don't like the V8 RX-7 concept should come take a ride with me sometime, you might reconsider.

In response to this "being a poor choice to achieve more power because your tampering with the original engineering and soul of the RX-7": I understand the passion that we all feel for these cars, as I've mention numerous time I respect those who don't like the idea. But I have never seen any hostility on this forum to anyone putting in a Rotary in a Miata or a Spitfire or putting in a 20B in a second gen. I never heard anyone claim those conversions are "cop outs" because with those conversions, you are also tampering with the original engineering, so please at least be constant with your negative views of tampering with a RX-7. Also, a Small block Chevy conversion in a RX-7 is an easier conversion than the others I mentioned above.

Bottom line, I've stated numerous times on this forum that a RX-7 V8 conversion is not for everyone and I'm not trying to convince anyone into doing it.

And it is b/c of this that I have utter respect for you.
