Its a stand alone computer. You would need to wire it in to your car, and then tune your car. If you have never tuned its a good way to blow your motor. So if you do be careful or have a pro tuner do it.

If you do get it, find the stock S5 Turbo map and use that to start. Even if the previous car it was on was an S5 Turbo you don't know what other mods he had.

How can i find the stock S5 map? Can you explain abit about mapping, tuning ect. What will it allow me to do with the car? Completely lost when it comes to ECUs and electrical. Also how hard would it be to get that part? I live in Australia and those are made here, so...?

Yes, it is worth getting one that is new or in good shape, but that particular one is missing some of the wiring and the hand controller, and may not even work. Also, that model is outdated. I would rather buy a new LT8 model with a warranty and vendor support, but it may be worth getting that one if you can get it for cheap and don't mind taking a big risk.

In the USA, it usually costs about $500-1,000 USD for installation and basic tuning, while dyno and track tuning increase the cost. Tuning and installation should be less expensive in Australia.

You will need a professional to install and tune it, and the engine will need minor retuning whenever major performance modifications are added and when the engine wears. Microtech should be able to give you the phone number of a tuner near your location. You may also want to contact them for pricing on the missing wires.
