worst morning ever.
On my way home this morning, the FIRST time driving my fresh rebuild, the heater core hose popped off and blew all the coolant out on the interstate.
I shut it off and pulled over, I sure hope the coolant seals are in tact still.

They're new hoses, thanks.
shitty OEM clamps.
and they're blown, I cranked the engine over tonight with the cap off and it spurted out the top, then a bunch of micro bubbles were flowing past, so it's probably getting air from the rotor housings

And this ladies and gentlemen is why I keep a very close eye on my temperature guage...
Bad luck dude, if it does need a rebuild just do some more stuff on the motor while its out to convince yourself its not a 100% bad thing.. (ie, porting)

What exactly do you mean by spurted? Did it fart a little or geyser? And don't worry about micro-bubbles.
What you may have seen was just air popping out after you refilled the cooling system.
Don't give up yet.

also doesn't idle as well as it did.
I'll drive it around tomorrow and see if it overheats. I bought it with a blown coolant seal, so this isn't exactly new territory to me.

The thing is, my motor has been overheated about 4 times in the last 3 years, and she's still 5x5. So, to my mind, unless your motor overheated and stayed hot, there's at least a fair chance that the seals are intact. That may turn out to be completely wrong, but at least I am speaking from first-hand experience. I think that the 13B's vulnerability to overheating is frequently over-stated around here - they're tougher than they sometimes get credit for.
That rough idle may have nothing to do with the overheating. I say top up the coolant and fire her up again. Stick out it with that motor.

Well, you're talking about a freshly rebuilt motor... you won't have a perfect idle.
I have personally over heated my car 4 times... (all from the same problem I though I fixed...) and it still purrs fine.
There's still hope!

You're right about the idle, but the hard idle set screw had it held open to about 2200 RPM and now it's super lumpy, possibly something got blown loose, haven't had time to check.
I'll take her out and hit a little boost tomorrow, if the seals are questionable it will overheat almost right away under boost, IME.
