Talking WOOHOO, I made a fan shroud:)

I know it's ghetto and ugly so don't laugh too hard. I'm just happy I finally did it and it was free besides, everybody loves pictures.

enjoy:

Not bashing your work, it looks great. but wouldnt it be much more efficient with a lip sticking out to seal up the outside tips of the blades? the way it is now i dont see it doing its job very well

it's all good. I still have some aluminum left, I might put a lip on it. this setup is semi-temporary as I'll be putting on a whole different radiator setup soon and I don't daily drive the car. I figured a shroud going to all edges of the radiator is better than no shroud at all.

thanks fellas.

yeah nice work and it looks good but how well would it work? The stock shroud covers the whole fan.

If your fan pulls enough CFM, then you don't even need a shroud. I don't have one around my 16" Spal. Looking to make one though. You've sparked some motivation my good man.

Put some silicon in that gap there and you'll be good, I think.

the gap on the driver side is just cause it slid over a bit. this was just final mock-up. all seams will be sealed.

Not bad, but why are there screws on the top edge?

A tip for anyone trying this just make a mock up out of cardboard and tape, then when all the dimensions are sorted lay it all flat on a large piece of sheet metal and outline where you need to cut, and where you need to bend.

Here are some photos from when I made my similar shroud.

nice write-up, I've read it before.

I didn't have any way of doing nice bends so I did a couple of easy bends and bolted up the rest. like I say, it's a little ghetto but it was free and I was bored it'll at least get me through the Dallas Cannonball and will work until I get my new rad.

I think it looks great and should work fairly well. Alot better than not running one at all.

Now all you need to do is buy some "engine brite" and clean that engine bay, holy **** that's dirty. Simple green max works good too..

make a piece covering the top of the fan. bolt it to those 4 top screws. have it stick out maybe 5 inches.

i had a random question.
would the heat the radiator fan sucks in, does it matter if the hot air just runs into the engine?
i was thinkin about finding a way to redirect the air from the radiator away from the engine and maybe adding small fans to vent out the engine bonnet towards the wheel wells.
i dunno just a thought.

Less heat in the engine bay is always good. Reverse scoop on a TII hood or hood vents help a lot. Further it helps pull more air through the radiator.
