Wont go into gear possibly clutch cable?

I did the clutch swap and the only problem I had was the clutch cable falling out of the line. I had to feed the line back in but I dunno if that worked or what. Would this be the reason why it isn't going in and out of gear? How do I put the cable in the right way?

-Chris

P.S. I suck at cars.

When you press the clutch pedal, does the slave cylinder extend?

Can you synchromesh (not sure that's the right word, get into gear w/o the clutch...) into gear?

The slave cylinder does extend. I can start the car in gear but it aint comin' out of gear or into another one unless I forced it. Didn't want to try that.

Not sure what you mean by clutch cable falling out...

But if you press the clutch and the slave cylinder extends that means everything between your clutch and tranny is working... at least I think so.

Well that long cable that goes from the side of my transmission up into the engine bay fell out of it's sheeth onto the floor... I ran the cable back into its plastic sheeth but I don't think that worked.

It's official, you just confused me more then ever. Our cars use a hydraulic clutch actuation system, not cable like some FWD cars do. Please elaborate. The only cable I know of in the trans is the speedo cable, and if that fell out, you would know immediatley. Guess why.

lol. Well. My car wont go in and out of gear and I guess the clutch isn't engaging. The slave cylinder does extend. Is it possible that it's not extending enough? Do I need to bleed the valve more and somehow get it to extend more? Or do you think I fucked up on the clutch install and I'm gonna have to take apart the car again.

The clutch will not engage...

Hey SS, I think you are speaking of the speedometer cable...it does fall out of it sheath at times when disconnected from the tranny. That should not have any effect on the operation of the tranny what so ever. It just gives you a visual indication of how fast you are going via speedometer...Easy to put back in. However, who installed your clutch...?
I have heard before that if the clutch plate is installed incorrectly (springs on disk facing the wrong direction) can cause the clutch assembly to improperly operate. Some companies print on the disk which side faces engine while others do not. Good luck shipmate...

OK.. when you say won't go into gear do you mean
A) it's in neutral and no matter how hard you push it won't go into any of the gates??
B) It's in gear and you can't get it out
C) It's in gear and when you let go of the clutch nothing happens?

a little more detail dude

i did a clutch on my car and the same thing happend to me. hears what i did

1)blead entire system (fluid gets old and breaks down)
2)changed slave
3)changed master
4)blead entire system again (had to)

blead the system first. if that dosent work more drastic mesures may be needed
