withdrawls from my car

Its been two weeks since I drove my car and Im starting to crave. Damn oil line burst on me again(second one in two months). And I finally got around to fixing it. But I can find a wrech big enough. Does any one know what size the nut is on oil cooler line (short one) The part with the two nuts. I think its 21 and 25mm but I don't have the big one.
Help me

live4boost,

Checked Mr. Haye's, but no mention of nut sizes. Guess I should pony up and get the shop manual.

Is it breaking at the oil cooler or at the block? Strange both would go like that unless the oils running much hotter than normal. Do you have an oil temp gague?

I had to go a few months between the time that the engine in my GTU went out and when I found the convertible. I was stuck with my Metro. Man, that sucked.

I didn't drive my car for 6 months. During that time I was driving my 81 Tercel, or as my friend calls it: The blue donkey.

Ive never been able to find a wrench large enough to fit them properly. I have to use 2 adjustables. One needs to be real skinny, to fit on the smaller nut thatis in the block. This one will come loose too, but you dont want it to. You need to hold it in place while loosening the larger one. IF they both turn, it will bend/break the metal tube for the oil line.

Ive went to sears and every hardware store and not only couldnt find one the right size, but couldnt find one thin enough to fit the smalle nut, because it is so close to the block. I have an adjustable with skinny tips that works great.

13BAce,

Ouch. I'd beat my head against the wall every night driving a 4 banger (or tear up the transmission from overrevving & excessive shifting).

13bace: lol ... i thought some of you would laugh at thar first gen... My car is parked out in front of my friends house... What you actually dont see in that picture is the other cars he has in his garage and on the road (1 third gen, 3 more first gens, and a Turbo II in the driveway) My friend always seems to have a different rex on the go... He picked up 2 first gens for 50$ !! thats one of them that you see in the picture... The interior on that one was completely gutted, and it was rusted out, and had no vin, so it couldnt be insured... He ripped the engine out of that one,, ripped it apart and realized it had all new seals etc. so now its getting rebuilt, and a full bridge port !! ... So before they took it too the wrecker they had some fun with some spray paint and crowbars etc... as you can see the makeshift hoodscoop there lol... the other rx that he got he is making into the race car.. (plus it had a perfectly good engine too !! ) so he has to perfectly good first gen engines.. The FD is getting a half bridge and a rebuild... (although it still runs fine) .. and the TurboII was awaiting a new starter (but its up and running now) hehehe that red bad boy is mine

I have two different first gens I picked up for $250 each. Drove both of them home with minor work. One became a parts car and the other is a neglected project.

Now my driver is broke down waiting for parts and time.

Meanwhile I had to fix a freaking Berretta to drive around (This thing was thought of as a sport sedan?)

I WANT MY SEVEN!

Scott

PS maybe we should start RX7 Anonymous!

To change the oil cooler lines, I had the car lifted up and used a long *** breaker bar. I forgot the size of the socket but it took me several trips to Autozone to find the right one.
__________

Well, I've major AE withdrawals also. The engine crapped out on September 22. I think one or more of the apex seals are stuck. I turn it on every once in a while just to hear the engine but it's really a shadow of it's former self. It's really loud as hell and it can't hold idle after warmup. I don't think any of the seals came out because the turbo isn't damaged and still spools normally when I gun it.

The expected return date for my AE is May of next year. I'm doing two stages of upgrades:

ENGINE (May 2002):
Streetport/Rebuild
Walbro Fuel Pump
Apex S-AFC
Bonez Turbo-Flo System
Blitz Blow off Valve
Racing Beat Sway Bar Links

Cosmetic (November 2002):
East Bear flat headlight kit
Knightsports rear spoiler
Volk SE-37 18 inch
Repaint
Redo seats

I bought a little Toyota Corolla FX to use for now but I just miss the feeling that my RX-7 used to give me. The AE will return.
