Wiring questions

I'm not really sure where to post this Tbh

could go in the race tech, PFC, 2nd gen or gen rotary tech.. not really sure..

basically:

I have an S4 shell, gutted and stripped to bare metal..

S5 drivetrain with engine loom

FD PFC with the S5 harness adapter

I'm building a dedicated track car...

i've removed the entire body harness from front to rear

I don't need turn signals headlights A/C blah blah blah

I need a car that runs, and has brake lights that's it..

gauge cluster will be a big Autometer Tach.. and that's about it... everything else will be warning lights on the dash, and datalogged from the PFC+datalogit..

i'm planning on having the panel with all the toggle switches

Main, Fuel, Fans, Pump, START, etc...

Battery relocated to the Back

everything will have the appropriate fuses inline as well naturally

do I just need to provide the ECU the proper power and grounds to make it run?

will it complain with everything else missing?

Is it as simple as I make it sound? or am I missing something?

forgive me for being brief, but i'm so tired and about to pass out..
i'll be happy to clarify/elborate when I wake up ...

ECU, if stock, will need a lot more than power and ground. You will need two separate signals from the crank angle sensor; if the ECU is going to control fuel injection duty cycle (mixture) you will need AFM, TPS, intake air temp, water thermo temp, and maybe some others (internal logci on the ECU is not published)

I mentioned in my post I'm going to run the Power FC not the stock ecu

TPS, AIT, CAS and the other signals are all pulled from the engine harness (still intact) not the chassis harness.. (which I removed)

CAS And ignition functions are through the front harness, not the engine harness.

Thank you!

See this is the kind of information that I'm trying to gather

weather I should run new wires for a few basic things or put the front half of the chassis harness back in with the fuse box and relays etc.

Put the front half back in, but before you do strip it down to the essentials. ALOT of things can come out. When you do, make sure to leave the terminals in the main dist block. These can be used to power things like fans, IGN systems, etc etc.

Planning is key though.... it helps if you have 1/2 the wiring diagram memorized from experience as some of us idiots do.

Hey B, what's the L/W wire for?
Stereo power from the IGN.
No it's not, how could you know that.
A) You asked, B) look it up, C) Don't doubt TGB.
You're right, you suck

There are pictures in the wiring diagrams that show where everything goes and how it works.

In the back of the series four wiring diagrams, there are several pages that show each harness in the car and what each of those harness connect to. AIN'T NO CHASSIS HARNESS!

Thanks for the replies guys..

so just to clarify

can a Simplified S4 harness be used to run an S5 engine on a PFC with no OMP?

what are the basics to make the motor run?

Power
Grnd
CAS
IGN

anything else not included in the engine loom that I need to re-integrate?

on a side note.. since i'm using a PFC.. can I use FD coils to fire on the FC? or is there an incompatibility between the CAS vs magentic trigger of the REW?

speaking of CAS.. the REW is not adjustable.. what do I set as the base timing for the CAS on the motor? just leave it in the middle and let the PFC sort it out?

Thanks hailers I'm familiar with the kit. I already own one of them for the S5
sorry if my question wasn't clear. I just meant to ask if the cas requires any adjustment or will the PFC be merely over ride it

Thank you for your help and patience hailers..

Tbh i'm not too worried about the PFC at the moment.. I will cross that bridge when I reach it

my main concern is replacing and using the parts of the S4 Harness to make the engine running once again (assuming it can be done on a stripped down S4 harness, and i wont have to purchase an S5 one **** it half way round the world just to tear down)
