Wiring Issues

I recently bought a lien sale 10th AE with a seized motor. I just dropped in my motor Rotary Evolution built and went to start it and nothing.

I get no clicking in the start position.
I have power in the the ACC and 12v positions.
However I have no power to any of my dash instruments everything else has power (stereo, headlights etc).

The wipers go all the time the ignition is in the on position (not sure if this is related though).

Thanks
Ed

I made a ground kit. It is grounded in like 5 places now. I used big *** 1 gage ground from the battery to the tranny and then used a distribution box to ground that wire to a bunch of places.

BTW my lights by the rear view mirror inside the cabin dont work either.
My ECU has power though the Rtek is reading signals.

Seems like only the drivers side harness stuff is not working.

The interior Spot Lights are fed from the ROOM fuse. Room fuse gets fed from the engine bay fuse box 60 amp fuse.

The combination meter gets fed from the METER fuse. Meter fuse gets fed from the ignition switch.

Ignition switch has pwr because the wipers work.

So go to your TRAIL COIL package and remove the three nuts that hold it down. LIft it up and out of the way. Look for a BLUE jumper plug as seen in the attached jpg. Remove it and put it aside.

Get a piece of wire about two feet long with bare ends. PUt one end in the socket where the Blue jumper was removed. You put it in the socket for the Black wire with a White stripe. Now with the car in neutral, touch the other end of the wire to the battery positive post. The engine should rotate.

If it did NOT, then the small wire for the starter solenoid is off or ??????the other large wire is not on the starter?????? or the engine/starter assy is not grounded.

IF the engine did rotate, then get a meter out and put it on the Green/Black wire in that same plug where the black/white is found. With the meter pos lead on the back/green and the neg lead on a known good gnd, and the meter on dcvolts, get in the car and turn the ignition key to start while pressing the clutch pedal. You should see batt voltage on the black/green wire. If not, then inspect the clutch interlock switch. Pull it''s plug off. Turn the key to start and see if you have batt voltage on the Black/Red wire of the interlock switch. You should have it there. NO voltage on the black/red???? Bad ignition switch. Sorry, no puntuation today.

I'm not a RX addict and don't know a AE from a sport. So, did you use the same EM harness that the original chassis came with??? Or did you use a EM harness from another car/type/model??????? EM is the emisisons harness on the right side of the engine bay and has the inector plugs on it etc.

IF your car has Theft Protection.............the Blue plug isn't there. There will be a relay attached near the Main Relay that replaces it.

I used all the stock wiring harnesses.
I think my car did have the theft protection, I looked under the trailing coil and there is no jumper plug.

Any idea what the relay I should look for looks like and which wire I use to kick the starter on?

Also any ideas about no power to the dash gauges (fuel etc.)

Btw the meter fuse is good.

thanks

The Starter Cut Relay is outboard of your trail coil assy. The six socket connector has two black/green wires, one black/white and a light green/yellow wire.

You pull the plug off it and then jumper batt voltage to the BLACK/WHITE wire.

That relay mounts on the left fender.....sort of. Outboard from the Trai coil assy. Six socket connector.

You real sure you have 12v going from the batt to your ignition switch?????? There are several plugs to the ignition switch. One plug has two connectors. One pure black and the other black/white. The pure black should have 12vdc from the engine fuse box. Check it with a meter.
