Wiring harness switch + New Problems

I was previously having problems with my ignition so I switched out ECU then tried wiring harness and that seems to have fixed the problem, although at the same time I fiddled with my alarm system and that may have been what fixed it... anywho now that I got that going I've found that there doesn't appear to be any fuel getting into the combustion chamber. Theres ignition, and I know fuel is getting to the fuel rail (as I lossened the connector and fuel squirted out) but I'm thinking mabye the injectors don't work. I got the wiring harness out of an 86 GX and my car is an 88 GX... I'm assuming they are compatable since they are S4?
I havn't been able to figure out how to tell if the fuel injectors are working or not. But there was no fuel on any of my spark plugs when I took them out and there is definatly nothing in the engine being ignited....

different injectors with a 86 than an 88 and no resistor pack on the 88.

Harnesses are not the same.

So how is this to be fixed? Are they completly non compatable or is there a work-around?

I have some 88 GXL injectors I can sell you. PM me if you want them.

So I need to get different injectors for this to work? I'm confused... I have an 88 GX right now... will I need 88 GXL injectors to get this to work with an 86 GX wiring harness? I just need to get my car working, thats it...

I was going to use them on my 87 but I can't since they are different kinds. I don't know of any way to run the different injectors. I have all four all you would need it the O-rings and grommets to put in unless you will use your own o-rings and grommets.

There were significant changes to the injector set-up made mid-87. Early S4's had low-impedance injectors and a resistor pack (because the ECU needed to see high impedance), while later ones had high-impedance injectors so no resistor pack was required.
Since your car is missing the resistor pack there's a gap in the circuit that sends 12V to the injectors, so they won't fire. You can probably find that plug (should under the airbox) and jumper it to complete the circuit, but you'll need someone with an 86 wiring diagram to help you with that.

Hailers, that's your cue.

Ahh I think I know what your talking about... on the 86 parts car I jacked the wiring harness from there was one plug underneith the airbox that I didn't have in mine _BUT_ mine did have a kind of wrap around thing.. where all the plugs on that plug were filled with other wires and taped down (done by the previous owner) so I just put that bunch of wires into the new one... but at least I know why my car isn't running now, all I need to do is figure out wtf I'm sposed to do with that plug

Well I think I got it, I just connected every one of the wires that go to the resistor pack and that seems to have done it. So I had it running again for a bit but now I don't think I'm getting enough gas. Out of the frying pan and into the fire I guess. My MAF plugged was messed up but it's now fixed and it won't even start. Theres ignition, and the injectors are firing but it doesn't seem like it's getting enough gas to start. Every now and again you can hear it igniting but only after I cut the fuel with my fuel cut switch and only for a moment. Before it started doing this I had it running but it would die if I dind't give it enough gas to keep above 3k rpm. Also the timing is still not done (because I havn't had the car idling since I rebuilt the engine)
