wiring a 13b engine swap
wiring a 13b engine swap
Alright to start off with I am very new to rotaries, I come from volkswagens and after seeing and hearing a blown rx7(
) at an autocross ive been craving for one. Well I just so happen to have a stripped triumph spitfire that needs an engine and what better than a small light weight motor capable of big hp. Now I fully understand fabricating mounts and so forth to get the engine and tranny to sit in the engine bay but what has got me is the wiring. If I start out with a complete running rx7 would I just use the rx7's stock wiring harness. I am ready to get started on this project but the wiring is the only thing holding me back as the spifire is completely stripped of interior and wiring. I put this in this thread becuase theirs more traffic here and Im a complete noob so I just want as much help as possible and I have searched but every swap documented on the web shares nothing about wiring.

The wiring of the engine/ECU is fairly simple. The Haynes manual contains schematics, as does the factory service manual.
But I would highly recommend skipping the stock fuel injection and going with a standalone system. Haltech, Microtech, Megasquirt, etc. That will allow you to greatly simplify the wiring, as well as tune to your specific setup. This is a requirement if the engine is turbocharged.

If you want to go with the Megasquirt, then take a look at it. Otherwise there are several EMS forums on this website.
As for the other wiring in the car, you'll probably want to find a Triumph forum. Mazda totally seperates the engine and chassis harnesses.

You should REALLY get your hands on the Grassroots Motorsports magazine back issues that did exactly this.
