Lightbulb Wired open aux ports

Well I came to the conclusion that my aux's wernt opening regularly due to my straight pipes. I read several places that if wired open you loose your bottom end really badly and that it sucks in traffic. I talked to someone at akinsrotary about a method i had for manual opening of them by using a pull type solinoid for each that was activated by nos type button i'd locate on the shifter. One he said that would work and i could also do it with a rpm switch and something else. Two he said i should try wiring them open and see how that is. I stated that i had read that you loose you low end, and i had also read that it doesn't too badly. He said he had heard the same thing. My expeience has a good result and there is very minimal loss of low end, nothing to cry about. The power starts to come in about 3800 but really starts pulling at 4500~5000 depending the gear. I also tried wiring them shut. Very noticible low end vs when open but a very noticible loss of top end. I figured that one more confession in the forums to help those debating it wouldnt hurt. I am considering a piggy back ecu to controll the fuel and other things and was wondering if anyone had experience good or bad with piggy backs.

I'm curious here how wiring your ports open would cause an increase in upper end power?
it comes down to ports open by being wired or ports open vs exhuast they both should be open either way.

I don't get what he wants to know.

Is this just a long way of asking what a good piggy-back fuel controller would be?

The Aux ports are not rocket science. Just make them work as designed.... by exhaust backpressure.... It only takes 2 PSI!!!!!!!

You're right, wiring them open vs letting them open on their own doesn't give you any more power. I think you are getting confused since the original poster's ports weren't opening at all. For him, wiring them open would give more upper end power only because they are not closed full time.

That is exactly what i meant. I have a s4, I didnt see any hoses connected to them so i thought that they wernt even connected, but they get their air fron the intake. There is a little pin size hole that feeds into them diaphrams case. After they were removed, i started the car and put my fingers over the pinhole and rev'ed the engine a little. I did feel some air coming out of it but i dont think that is enough to open them. I will find out which hose sends the pressure to the intake and going to tap the smog pump line... I would like to have my low end (what little i lost) back so i can punch it at any rpm without it hesitating.

You guys are spinning in circles, man, lol....

Do a search- there's gotta be 50 different writeups on this very subject. Everything from the extremely simple (air source tapped into the air pump outlet with a small overboard relief like I got) to the fairly complicated (electric air pump, rpm switch, regulator,etc)...

I'm with guys like Kenteth- if you're going to wire them one way or the other because you don't want to rig anything up, wire them closed...
