wired 6 ports

I was looking forward to wiring my six ports open today but I don't really know how to do it, if somebody could send me a write up or pics, or a link that would be great. Also I am trying to sell my car...how much would a 1990 GTU be worth, new clutch, cooling system, fair interior, etc.

If you don't know how to do it, then why do you even want to do it? Is low end-loss something you enjoy?

use zip ties.....if you dont like the low end loss then you can cut them. You dont really need a right up....

If your car is an 86-88 the actuators need to be down all the way......89+ they need to be out/up

best thing to do is just make them work properly.....there is nothing better on an NA than working six ports.....

Why do you want to wire them open, exactly? You'll lose more than you gain.

You have to remove your intake manifolds and remove them and clean them with somethin like carb cleaner or brake cleaner. You also should clean the actual slot or sleeves they go in cuz those are probably dirty.

The only way it could add more power on the top end is if you removed the sleeves. Even then it probably is not noticeable

by leaving them open you loose power down low and don't gain anything from the top end that you would not just get back by claening them. it would be better to get some pineapple sleeves. They are only 50 bux plus core and they add some power.

Im well aware of that. I was just talking about the top end, because that is what he was asking about. To make what I was getting at more clear:

Wiring the ports open doesn't make it possible to get air in quicker at high rpms. Taking the sleeves out makes those ports marginally bigger, allowing for more air to get in at high rpms. This however would not make a noticable difference on the average car. The pineapple sleeves being a whole nother topic, should make more power than removed sleeves. And yes, non operational 6th ports takes away torque in the low end.

Also, from first hand experience, I can say that the gain on the top end from removing the sleeves is smaller than the loss on the low end.

Besides getting the generic "take your manifold off and clean it..." bull$**** advise, here'e something that worked amazingly well for me.

First replace the vacuum hoses that control the aux ports. They are called "auxillary ports" not "6 ports". This ensures that you have a good air tight system, since the AUX ports and VDI in the 89+ cars are controlled by the air pump i.e. positive air pressure, and a soleniod valve. You might as well replace the vacuum lines to the VDI while you are at it.

Once you have replaced the vacuum lines, get a hand pump with a pressure guage on it and connect it to the vacuum line that controls both AUX ports. The best place is just after the Aux Port Solenoid. Look under the hood and there is a diagram of the solenoid rack with a listing of all components controlled by each solenoid. Apply pressure to the aux port actuators slowly while checking for movement. Once you get movement of the AUX port actuators, compare the reading on the guage to the FSM located at www.fc3s.org. Contunue pumping until the actuators are fully extented, compare the guage value to the FSM.

If your readings are at higher pressures than the manual reccomends, you might be able to use some sort of penetrating lubricant to "soften" the diaphram in the auctuators and lubricate the moving parts. I used Valvaline Super-Lube. It has a really nice swivelling "nozzle" that allows you to point the straw almost anywhere. So I just lubed up the shafts and the linkage of the AUX Port Actuators and worked them open and closed with the hand pump a few times. After I did this, i repeated the test procedure outlined above and found out that the AUX Port Actuators were not operating at recommended pressures.
