wire for temperature gauge?

I have a shop manual, with wiring diagram, but I still can't seem to figure out where the temperature gauge gets its signal from. Mine has been broken since I got it and I would really like to get it working so I don't have to tack on an autometer gauge or something like that. Where is the sender located on the engine and is it common for them to go bad?

No, it's a little bitty sensor right under the oil filter. Sort of by the oil pressure sensor.

I thought the water temp sensor was this one located in the rear/top of the water pump housing piece?

This is the one that broke on mine............

Thanks, i'll check it out as soon as i get a few free minutes. And I just replaced the one in the back of the water pump thinking it was the cause of the problem.

one on the back of the water pump is a reading for the ECU.

one under the oil filter and under the oil pressure sender is for the gauge.
