A wing does not necessarily require flaps and slats. Besides, the automotive market has its own warped definitions of wings and spoilers because many of the manufacturers do not know or care about the actual function of their products. I still find it strange that a retailer can sell a "wing" that is a non-functional oxymoron.
The Gurney trailing edge device is a flap, and none of the stock RX-7 spoilers have this device.
The reason I asked the question of the original poster is because a "wing" type spoiler was offered as a dealer-installed or customer-installed aftermarket accessory on the U.S. models, and there may have been a larger Japanese version of this product.

I just noticed he told you it was JDM after you bought it, so I guess you're not a sucker after all. The same can't be said for the people who buy stuff labelled as "JDM" by shiester sellers when in fact is isn't.
It seems nobody even knows what JDM means these days. The term Japanese Domestic Market applied to cars means cars that were sold in Japan, i.e their "domestic market". It does not apply to cars made in Japan and sold elsewhere, and it doesn't apply to aftermarket parts either.

my brother had an escort the motor blew because of the bad lifter design. so then he went and bought a supercharged miata and now he has just switched it over to turbo (in japan they are called the eunos )

"Eunos" is a chain of dealerships that had exclusive rights to sell the MX-5 (and FD3S).
This is why the FD3S is known as a Eunos FD3S.
You could not buy an MX-5 or FD3S brand new unless you went to a Eunos dealership.
Calling it just a "Eunos" doesn't make any sense; the model name is actually "Roadster".
Dude, that's like strike 2...

no it is not strike 2 because you are seeing how much I actually care about that market and how they label things. this is why this whole conversation started. as I stated above I dont care if the wing I bought is or is not A true JDM wing I could care less about where is was built as long as it looks good.

Rider of the Sky
A wing creates downforce by itself which eventually translates to the rear wheels.
RX-7s use spoilers.
The S5 pyloned spoiler is more aggressive (sharper angle) than the S4. He probably had an S5 among S4s.
