just wondering, im buying s5 door panels, glove box, center console, and the radio/a/c control until surround trim. Will these parts work on an 1988 rx7?

 

They should theyre not that different on the interior. It the outside you have to worry about, theyre not so interchangable!!

Some parts will work, others won't. The main one that comes to mind is the a-pillar since s's didn't have auto seat belts. The center console is different as well, but it might still work just look weird.

The stereo surround piece wont fit. Thats the rubber piece that goes around the whole logicon, stereo, ash tray area. The rest will fit fine.

 

This isn't the best picture, but it is doable.

you have to drill holes for the seat belts and paint your s4 b-pillars to black. The headliner will have gaps on each side and you'll have holes in the back where the light and cargo cover rails go.

 

incorrect; s4 or s5 surround will swap to either series dash.

 

Are you sure? I thought they were shaped differently.

 

Door panels MAY fit but there will be no room for speakers. That part of the door was changed in in the series conversion. Might work if you cut them out, but it would still be a fab job.

 

i dont plan on doing a complete interior swap. its just I got my interior with a white glvoe box, white seats, door panels painted white in the middle, and the center console armwrest is white. I want it to be all black so Im just replacing the white stuff. And my sterior/logicon surround trim is all busted. s5 parts seems to be in better condition and a lot nicer. So we have,,,,
YES on the glove box,
MAYBE on the center console.
YES on the door panels but no place for door speakers, and
MAYBE on the stereo/logicon surround trim?

 

center console fits. i have a s5 one in my car but it has less room than the s4 ones becasue of the seatbelt retractor that is usually under it. and the stereo/ logicon surround fits for sure as well. I have it on mine... but it won't match up perfectly with the plastic shifter surround peice

 

+1 I have the S5 rubber surround and didnt even have to customize it to fit. The vents are different but as long as you get the whole thing ur fine.

rubber surround is the greatest piece of S5 interior you can buy. its well worth not have a cracked/destroyed plastic piece.

 

a s5 shifter surround wont fit with a s4 center console and vice versa unless you modify them.

 

S5 headliner will be short ina S4. so if your going black conversion, have yours dyed black.

 

hmm.. is the european version different from the usa ones?.. Ive changed all my interior from s4-s5...

and btw.. changing the exterior to s5 isnt a big hassle either...

 

Those of you who say the S5 rubber radio/logicon surround works, please show us a picture of the area at the top of the surround and near the shifter at the bottom. I would say you can make it look alright, but interchangeable (i.e. factory designed to fit) they aren't.
