Will this oil cooler cool? /E-fan mounts
Will this oil cooler cool? /E-fan mounts
I hit something and it dented in the first 6-8 inches of the bottom row of fins on my oil cooler. How does this effect cooling? Could I do some interstate cruising and autocrossing in 80 degree weather? Also, I have a fan from a mid 90s Ford thunderbird W/ a 4.6L. Are there any popular ways to mount this? It seeems like it would fit with some minor cutting and its two speed! Any popular ways to mount it?

that does not answer my question! How good is the stock oil cooler at exchanging heat on a stock engine?!?! Does it need every last MM of fin to do its job???!!!!!!! Feel Free to appologize and answer some of my older posts that noone can give me a straight answer on!

I would need to see a picture of the damage to say if it influences any cooling.
But the stock oil cooler provides about 30% of the cooling of the stock engine, so any major damage will weaken the ability of the cooler to cool that 30%.

The suggestion to look for another oil cooler is the right one, as it is very important. And don't bother with an electric fan unless your stock one is causing overheating problems. There are no gains from swapping.

If that fan is similar to the one from a late 80s/early 90s Taurus it should go in no prob.
If my oil cooler was all banged up, I'd probably wanna replace it. It'd be a straightforward job, and cheap, so why not?
Not to be a bitch, but why all the hostility? Your questions were answered, and I don't really think anyone owes you an apology. Everyone was being nice!

check my other posts and you will see the reason for my attitude. my question was not being answered until Icemark answered it. I never said it was "all banged up". Cooling capasity is a simple idea, and not everything needs to always be replaced. I meant only a small bit of hostility.
You don't always get the exact answers you want; that's just the nature of forums. Demanding an apology for not solving your problem just makes you look like an *******. Instead of mouthing off at those who try to help, just bump it to the top so more people see your question. Not everyone checks in here daily, so give it some time.
Without pics (that were asked for) it's impossible to tell if the damage is enough to cause cooling problems. The most likely answer is "probably not", but you should still replace or repair it. It could start to leak later on, and that could have more serious consequences. The For Sale section is a good place to start looking.
