Will my exhaust wrap clamps work?

Hi
I wrapped my header, first time doing it, I used clamps from Home Depot, they are not entirely stainless steel. I think they are designed for water hoses? Will they withstand the heat from the header once installed?
Or should I upgrade to something else?

Thanks in advance!
Alex

They will hold up but they will rust and eventually fall off. You should use 321ss wire or metal ties like these:

Thanks for the quick reply. I ordered some from ebay for 6 bucks shipped, got 5 of them.

Excited to put this header on!

They will work fine.

Those stainless straps summit, or jegs sell are garbage. I have always preferred the stainless hose clamps because you can get them really tight, and they are re-usable.

I used the stainless steel ties on my street bike exhaust. They were hella hard to get tight. I had to twist the crap out of the tie with a needle nose plier. I think I would actually prefer a stainless steel hose clamp next time.

stainless hose clamps are the best hands down.
but i really wouldn't wrap the exhaust any further back. once the wrap gets crispy road debit just destroys it. might not be so bad on an NA.

looks good either way.

My theory is to only wrap in problematic areas. Retaining more heat could possibly weaken the metal, and the wrap could keep in moisture. I would suggest ceramic coating for a header.

On my street bike, I only wrapped my midpipe I had made for a custom undertail exhaust because it comes close to the battery tray and melted the corner of it a bit. The header being unwrapped I would assume release some of the heat before it reached my problematic area.

as stated above, SS hose clamps will work much better and are alot easier to use/tighten than metal ties. I'd wrap each runner individually down to the collector but that's just me. overall looks good and should be fine.

Some types of ss like 301ss rust. They don't hold up to the exhaust heat. I thought that was the more common type that's why I'm asking if yours are rusty. I havnt seen many 321ss worm gear clamps.

Only time that I had seen 321ss used for clamps are for t-bolts and v-bands. the only ss versions of worm gear clamps that I know of are 301/316. I use 301ss clamps on my boat's exhaust boots, both inner and outer, for some time now and there has been zero issues even with mostly saltwater use. They may have some spot stains but nothing that would warrant having them replaced.

The clamps that OP used will be just fine.
