Wierd noises...any suggestions?
When I'm accelerating, There is this hideous noise that I can't point out. Its only when my foot is on the gas. As soon as i let it off, the noise goes away. And it doesn't make the noise when i'm in my driveway reving it. Also my car has been overheating a lot and it accelerates very slow. My friend seems to think it could be my water pump. And that could cause the noise adn the over heating. The acceleration i'll worry about after. Any suggestions on what it might be?

hey this is his friend, it used to be my car. but anyway it sounds like a belt squealing but it only does it when hes moving like he said. it sounds like its coming from the engine bay at least. its been sitting for roughly 3 years and it was only running like 6 months or so ago. so it could be alot of things i know could be wrong with it but it seems to have good compression, and oil pressure.

its actually kinda hard to say where its coming from. It sounds like its from the front section of the car like sorta where my tranny is and its squeeling sound. like a metal to metal squeel. Its hard to explain. The only thing I can compare it to is fingernails on a chalkboard. When I first heard it, I thought maybe something in my transmission but i'm not sure. it sounds like it might be up under the hood more

a trans issue would explain the lack of the nose when reving. but it doesnt explain the noise when you push the gas while driving. is it an auot or a manual trans?

Um, if its overhearting alot... I would pry to god you didnt blow a coolant seal. The accel problem could be related to an internal issue. i would do a compression check on it. It may not explain you're "noise" but it could be a strong idicator as to some of you're other problems.

i was kinda thinking coolant seal also but it doesnt smoke except for a little on startup.i took the plugs out and cranked it over and the compression sounded fine nice and even no skips. could it be something timing related because i had to pull the front off because when i got it the guy b4 me had the e-shaft bolt fly out and i had to reset the needle bearing and might have screwed the timing a little.
