Wierd Noise....

Ok guys- My 88 Convertable is making a wierd noise when you rev it... About 4,000 RPM it is making a sound like a bird is squalking... Its coming from the intake side of the engine...down low...(I think) I thought it was the throw-out-bearing- However..it does not do it at idle...

It seems like if you rev it quickly...the noise happens at a lower RPM... I know this is a very vague question...but I do not know who else to describe it...maybe someone else has had the problem.

Any Ideas?!!

I checked the beltz- Everything seems to be tight- The Power steering was loose- but it is always loose... It sounds like it is coming from the intake side rear of the engine... I just can't imagine what it could be... I wish I knew- because I am scared to drive the car...I dont want to mess anything up

Detonation possibly? Does the sound resemble metal clanking together?

check the air relief silencer hoses, it will make a weird noise if it is not connected. It should be the hose coming out of the ACV

Air Control Valve, follow the hose coming from the back of the air pump to the ACV near the 5/6 port actuators on the pass. side of the engine. There should also be a hose coming straight out of the side of the ACV going to the Silencer under the pass. side headlight

Ive had that same problem too Ive done everything you can think of to that ACV. I think its a vacuum issue something with the solenoid relief valve or maybe even the EGR. I do know exactly what your talking about ive posted about 4 times and nobody seems to know. Its very strange but im still working on rooting down the problem ill keep you posted if I figure it out.

Does anyone have a picture of what this would look like?

I don't have a pic specifically focusing on the airdump hose but you can see it here (look at the passenger side frame rail area below the intake and find the yellow arrow)...

That is the tube and muffler.
Just follow it back to the ACV....
