wierd fuel cut problem
pretty much as title decribes, what happens is that the car of its own deciding has a 3k or 2k fuel cut. this seems to happen when i get stuck in traffic for a awhile time or if it is hot outside (and that never happens in houston ) the temp guage says everything is ok, and if i pop the hood and let it cool for a few minutes, or sometimes 10-15, it will start up and act like nothing happened.
Has anyone else had this happen? im thinking its either a temp sensor but i cant be sure, and i dont want to replace it and be stuck with the same problem.
Thanks for the help

It sounds very much like a worn out TPS.
(Post from an old thread) ---
Using test lights or voltage at idle readings will get your idle setting perfect, but you could still have a worn out TPS resistor.
-The golden test:
Pull the TPS connector off.
Get an analog (needle type) VOM set to the 1K scale.
Connect it to the pins for the orange & green wires.
Open the throttle enough so you can test the TPS plunger through its full stroke.
As you work the TPS plunger in & out, the meter needle must swing smoothly from ~0 to ~5K ohms.
As the TPS wears, it can give non-linear or inconsistent signals to the ECU.
A worn out TPS may give 1K ohms at idle, but have a drop out or short further up the scale.
A drop out at mid scale will tell the ECU to idle at that point & give a fuel cut hesitation.
I had one go open at the top which made the S5 ECU go nuts, giving random fuel cuts.

ive changed the fuel filter, the spark plugs, and air filter, but if its the tps, why would it do that only when its heats up? whenever its "cool" it runs like a champ and i cant feel any problems, its only when the car heats up from sitting in traffic or if its really hot outside, thanks for the suggestions thou

Heat likes to expand things, including distances between coil resisters & pickup "wipers" in our TPS's, according to the laws of physics/ thermodynamics...

well dug around and i think i have found the problem, the tps doesnt seem to want to come out all the way, which might be causing the problems
and after i extened it all the way out:
im thinking thats the main problem (im used to working on the fb lol) so it looks like time to start shopping for a tps....
