Why are there "3" odometers???

I opened up my speedometer today (trying to swap faces) and noticed that there are actually three mileage.. "things" on the speedometer. One is the vehicle mileage, the other is the trip mileage, but what is the hidden one on top... that is hiddend from view for???
What does that measure???

thats for the 20,000 mile switch, dont know what it switches on or off when it switches though lol

It's the "break in" counter. After 20,000 miles it switches, causing the idle speed to be lower and the mixture to be slightly leaner.

I know Galant VR-4's have two trip odometers, one for calculating gas mileage/oil changes and another for measuring distances from checkpoints since it is a homologation rally car.
