It sounds like you are gonna have a Good Weekend renting a U-Haul Dolly and going to get it.
#1 rule in Rotary Ownership is do NOT let anyone Drive your Car!
#2 is Don't let anyone who Does not Know about the mechanics of a Rotary try to Fix it.

it would be easy to go get it. but i am in the navy and i would have to route a chit to do it. which would be denied since i am in a student status till june 2011. he fixed the inside of the car for me i was told. i think i should just get it ship down here with the 5 lug convert parts. do it my self.

the way it sounds is it is burning off the manifold. the smoke comes from under the hood. i did a emissions removal and ported the waste gate. so i may have the wrong gaskets on the turbo. but the car is far away and asking people at home is like talking greek to them. you can just say bypass the BAC. need to go in depth

smart dad and bro. you should consider their advise and get something that is much more reliable and save your $$$ until you come out of the military. Then you can have fun. If you were my son/bro, I would have said the same thing.

that maybe a long time,
he now says "Cars going to a specialist, it won't start any more and backfires like crazy I'm not messing with it. Pretty sure your ported throttle body is the problem"
the main problem is the car isn't here. and it sitting in the driveway outside isn't helping. seems like any steps i make in the few days i am home it has two more new problems from sitting. it had new brakes on it when the N/A motor went now i bet they are rusted out.

hmmm... saying its going to a specialist doesnt sit right with me. not sure if there is any decent shops that know how to work on rotarys on that side of WI. where ever your dad/brother take it could just make your problems worse.
either just put up with not having your car till you get home, or sell it and buy one down at your current location. theres not gonna be an easy way to fix this.
+1 on the rules posted above.
edit: was thinking Elkhorn was up by Eau Claire...
actually! PM rotorhead_izzy, he lives down in your area and i believe he knows of a shop thatll help you fix your car.

zoom zoom go boom
I'm normally not the kinda person to say sell your car over fixing it, but your situation is a bit different than most. Id honestly consider getting rid of it for a project that is closer to your current location.

I can speak from the same experience, on this topic. Being deployed ANYWHERE away from home, regardless if you're on CONUS or foreign-soil detail, is a hemorrhoid, no matter how you look at it.
I would say this: If you have the funds, have it shipped, via transport. If not, have one of them drive it down, via rented UHaul (take my advice, spend the extra 10 bucks and get a flat-bed), when one of them is going to come visit you, while on leave (if your student status prohibits travel, while on 4-day), otherwise just take a 3- or 4-day and bring it back, yourself.
I don't know if you're in on- or off-base housing, but that'd also be something to consider if you're thinking of getting the car to you.
Different bases have different policies about 'abandoned' vehicles (or self-mechanics, for that matter).
I think you should figure out what your status prohibits you, from doing and go from there... Factoring in the cost:benefit ratio, as well.

the plan was to get it running to get it down here. i am selling my mustang to get it down here. i think the may issue is i rushed to put it together had about a week to install the motor. so i haven't worked out the bugs. i live on base. there is a auto center here that i could store the car if need be. i don't think i have many of the vacuum lines ran correctly. and i got a gasket kit for the full car. so i think the gasket on the turbo for the oil lines maybe burnt up seeing how i put ones on there that looked right. also on a side note will a s4 n/a bac work on a s4 T2. mine was clicking.

I think we've been over this before on another thread, but i'll say it again:
Really, just pay a knowledgeable forum member (notice the word knowledgeable) that is around your area to get the car back to running condition. Then drive it down.
Otherwise, flatbed towed to you would be the best since you won't have to worry about it's driveability condition when going from WIS to wherever you are located.
