Why does my car suck so much gas ?

Hey guys, i just got a 87 rx7 turbo ll with 89,000 miles and i put 5 bucks in it at 1.20 a gallon and i ran it out in 45 ?! is this normal 5 bucks in gas in a hour ? I was driving it pretty hard but still... Does anyone know why my car sucks gas so fast its all stock but a exhaust, and what gas should i run in it ? 87,89,93 or 94 ? Thanks for any help...

Get a tuneup/60K service, that's the #1 killer of fuel economy, torque, and emissions

Mine gets 17/21 or 19/24 depending how I drive

Also note the OEM exhaust gets plugged around 85K miles, so gutting or full exhaut upgrade will help extended engine life, add HP/torque, and make you happier

Downpipe, performance cat, catback exhaust.

Octane depends on mods. If your anything over stock, run 93.

Mileage? HAHAHA mine is variable depending on how heavy my foot is. I can really make it last if I keep my foot out of using the turbo. But if I am boosting alot, mileage is pretty low.

10MPG?? Wow that sucks.

I was getting 21.2MPG when I was driving the TII on the daily commute. Granted 3/4 of the commute was highway.

Thats (55mi/day * 5day) / 13gal = 21.2MPG
(filling up before 1/4 tank).

Even with a whole weekend of hard driving I still have fuel left over.
