Who needs A/C?

My A/C didn't work very well when I got the car(original R12 system), and then the compressor went out. When I did my rebuild, the A/C stayed in a box.

I honestly think A/C is a necessity here in Texas, but it is tolerable with the windows down on the high way.

I'm usually cruising with the windows down and the sunroof open. Still have a/c, might take it off considering I don't use it. I guess it would be more usefull at highway speeds.

No A/C was tolerable in Texas,So I left it out when I rebuilt the motor, but once I moved to Daytona Beach....I immediately regreted that decision.

Mine works, but needs recharged. Don't really need it though, as with the windows opened, it does a good job.

Convertible with black interior and stop and go traffic and I've got a health condition that causes me to dehydrate easily. I get mine recharged regularly, though I prefer fresh air and wind.

Last summer for the car I'm referring to, but I've owned a couple convertibles and a couple cars with t-tops over the years.

its not only good for summer time, but you also need it as a defogger on rainey days. i would rather keep ac, but I bought my car without it, so im without it. It uses alluminum brackets for the ps pump n ac compressor. BTW, I sweat a lot and I live in southern cali

I am an A/C guy to the end. I was experienced at working on and trouble-shooting A/C long before I got my 7.

I personally believe that with the exception of a track car, if you are south of Chicago, you need A/C for several reasons:

A/C is a must if you want to arrive with your clothes unwrinkled and dry. This is a plus on most all jobs. You will make more money if you present yourself well.

Do you want the value of your car to hold or even increase? Make everything work right. This is especially true of A/C. Working A/C adds value to your car WHEN you sell it. Unless you total your car you will eventually sell it.

Let's face it, (most) girls don't like to sweat...

the a/c compressor on my quest didnt work so I took it off, if it worked I would definately have kept it, but it does save about 40 lb's, and helps clean up the engine bay to get rid of it..

I dont use a/c anyways though, I always roll down my windows

Wink

My A/C went out five months after I bought the car in 1997. I have not had it since then and have lived in Oklahoma, NewYork, Goergia, and now in Texas and I dont really need it. I am fine with just the heat.

A/C is a must have in central FL, even if it isn't crazy hot out, getting the humidity out of the air so you can actually breathe it is nice.

Even in Chicago you need it. I've had to live through a few summers without it, and it sucks. During the few weeks of really hot summer we actually get, not having A/C can actually alter your plans. You have to decide what you can show up to being sweaty as hell! Or bring a change of clothes and figure out where to change. It's not the end of the world, but if the car already has A/C, I'm keeping it, just for the convenience. Now if it were strictly a track car, or something rarely driven, maybe I would ditch it.

Well, that's cause all the cold girls stayed in MICHIGAN and hot girls moved to TEXAS!

You set'em up, I knock'em down.

But seriously, I was referring to sweating. You guys have what, 10 maybe 15 days over 85*? We also go for weeks when the night temperature doesn't drop below 85*. At night.

A couple of years ago, we had 45 days in a row over 100.

I've got alot of family spread out thru TX, he speaks the truth. My first time visiting Austin was in July or Aug. Figured if I got up for a run at 9 or 10 I'd beat the heat. Wrong!!

As much as I'm good at withstanding heat, I hate the feeling of sweatiness, especially when I'm gonna go to work or be staying inside in my destination.
