Who has drove with a 12lb flywheel ???

I have new 12-13lb Centerforce flywheel. This is between light steel and ultralight aluminum 9.5lb flywheels. So where does this one stand. Its an oddball that I dont hear about much.

Its going to go into my car because I got a great deal on it but wondering about peoples 60ft times compared to steel or just drag racing in general. I havea n N/A highly modded sort of with stock ports and ecu. I know what your going to say so forget it I need someone who has one on thier vehicle for accurate feedback

Also since shorter gears create more torque wouldnt shorter gears be essential for lighter flywheels to get you giong ? this would counteract the affects of a lightweight flywheel wouldnt it ?

Does anyone have 4.3s I can buy ?

I have the light aluminum on both of my cars n/a and turbo. I love them. I think they are very easy to drive around on the street and the gain in acceleration is very noticable. On the n/a with such a light flywheel I just rev it up to about 4500-5000 rpm and dump the clutch. Tires chirp for a sec and it goes now! No problems once you figure it out. Its probably harder on the car doing this but I mostly autocross anyways.

I have the racing beat aluminum 12# flywheel as well and as far as streetability goes it is not hard whatsoever to get used to. Taking it to the track I find that u lose a little bit when shifting and launching. All in all though I feel that if you are building a drag car exclusively then you should stay away from the light flywheel. If however you are planning on autoxing and street driving then a tenth of a second or two in the quarter won't kill you and you will have fun the rest of the time.

there aren't realy 9.5 lb flywheels as far as I know...all those rated at such low weights don't take the counterweight into consideration. They should all be 11-12 lbs w the counter weight, RB weighs the counterweight along w/ the flywheel for their total of 12 lbs.

I have the supposed 9 1/2 lbs flywheel it weighs 12 lbs with counter weight. I love it makes launching easier on my TII. I stall every once and awhile but that is beacuse I am stuck in traffic and my foot is doing that nervous jump ****. Always happens after holding clutch down for hours at a time. The price might seem a lil steep but the replacment ring is only 60 bucks or so. Well thats my.02

that friction pad should last the life of the car...even if the car is seriously road raced you shouldn't burn through that thing!!
