Where can I buy a greddy FMIC throttle body elbow for 88 turbo II? Cant find it seperate from there kits!? help me out! thanks.

 

You can buy it at RX7.com I just visited the site a couple of days ago, and saw them there. Ive wanted to buy it for the longest but, they werent available at the time for the FC only for the FD's. Im defenitley goona get one for my T-II

 

Yeah, since when GReddy sold the outside of their IC kits?&nbsp I thought you needed to buy the entire kit?

The elbow you speak of Is for a FD. I'm favouring that It won't fit the FC Throttle Body.

 

A friend of mine just got the GReddy 3-row kit for the FC. I haven't seen it yet, but the elbow is apparently shaped a bit differently than the FD elbow in order to better fit the engine bay.

Note the bend towards the firewall on the FC:

I'm not sure how well the FD elbow would fit the FC, assuming no AC. I tried the FD elbow on my 20B, and it would work assuming one of the studs was relocated. If I can remember, the next time I visit the garage I will try the FD elbow on the 10AE next to my car and see how it fits.

The RX-7 store sells the FD elbows separately. You may want to contact them to see if they can order an FC elbow. You may also want to get the U-bend that attaches to the elbow. The rxengineering covers don't look so great because they don't have a straight pipe outlet to act as a flange for a hose connector.

 

the FD one is a big square with 4 bolts. the FC is a triangle with 3.

I tryed pushing square blocks through the triangle hole when I was 2 years old. it didn't work too well

 

We have the resource to produce a replica of the GReddy adapter piece.&nbsp It's not like the FD unit where it curves around - it's just the cone shaped piece that's in the above link...

It's in the upper left hand corner of the pic - the part with the "GReddy" logo embossed on it.&nbsp You'll need to get the rest of the piping yourself.

We're going to go ahead and go with a small run to see what kinda pricing we can get.&nbsp We need to make a couple of them for customers cars right now, so we're going to try maybe a 10 unit run.&nbsp Anyone interested at all???

I know of a firend that would want one more than likely, but he doesn't get on the computer too much. What about copying the entire piping design? Ever thought about that? Would make it alot easier to do custom FMIC installs. What kind of price do you think it would be around if you would be interested in taking it on?

I'd like to see pics. I'm very Interested In your proposal though. At this point, I'm going with a Greddy FMIC Kit this Winter.

 

It'll be an identical copy of the GReddy adapter as included in the GReddy FMIC kits...since GReddy doesn't sell them separately.

I would think securing the pipes will be easier and cheaper locally.&nbsp To ship a bunch of pipes that's pretty bulky is going to add up in costs, and it's not worth it in my book.&nbsp We can get the pipes, but are you willing to pay like $500 for the whole package with shipping?&nbsp Most people won't.&nbsp You have the freedom to use whatever piping size you want.&nbsp The Greddy adapter is 70mm OD, and that mates with their aluminum piping at 70mm OD also - that's like 2.75".&nbsp I know this size is pretty hard to find, but 3" is pretty close.

If you never seen the TB adapter in person, it is goes straight back from the TB and is angled slightly upward.&nbsp cymfc3s had pics up in here somewhere...let me go look for them.

After inspecting the adapter, I don't like the way GReddy has positioned the bung for the stock air temp sensor.&nbsp We are just going to cast the bung but leave it black with no hole.&nbsp It should not produce any problems for most people, as you can easily tap this to the right application - I know people will use stand-alone ECU's, and tapping a hole for their intake temp sensor shouldn't be a problem.

Any thoughts?

We got the unit sent to the foundry, so we're waiting for a solid price quote on the work and per unit piece.&nbsp Once we get that, we'll okay the job run, and it should take about a week to make them all.

I checked it out, and the FD intake is more or less upside down from the FC intake. Therefore, the FD elbow would work pretty well on an FC if you wanted to have it pull air from inside the firewall, lol. I think it would be easier to push two square blocks through a triangle hole.

BTW, the GReddy 3-Row IC kit is not what I expected. The core weighs a ton because of the heavy cast end tanks, there are no directions, it requires the front end to be cut up, there is no way the bumper will fit,... all of which I can deal with except that the freakin' pipes don't fit! I am very disappointed with this "kit". To make the pipes fit, one of the pipes needs about 2" cut off of it, and then about 1.5" of it needs to be welded to another pipe. I expected more from GReddy. On the good side, it IS nice and shiny.

 

http://www.jt-imports.com/ sells them for $240 each! If RETed can establish them for a suggestive $100 a unit (which I'm confident he will be able to produce), than I'd think this would be a great deal.

Unfortunately for me, I will be going with the Greddy FMIC over the Winter.

 

You may want to re-think that. Maybe the 2-row kit is better, but my friend's 3-row assembly is as heavy as my huge custom Spearco assembly that I know will work better, my Spearco fits better and requires no modification of the front end, the bumper stays put, and it looks like I may have actually gotten off cheaper. The really annoying thing is that my friend got the GReddy kit so it would be easy to install, and it's going to take as much custom work, or maybe even more, than my custom Spearco setup.

Oh yeah, I forgot to add that if you order the 3-row kit without the $300 piece that has the BOV bung, there is no replacement piece without the bung (ala FD), so you end up missing a whole pipe that you have to make yourself.

 

No 3 row FMIC for me. I'm going with the V-Spec 2 row. This will allow me to run my s5 Turbo for awhile. Should I upgrade my Turbo (which I will eventually do), I can have a custom made pipe from the Turbo to the Intercooler done for me.

As for the Aluminum Flange, my guy at Brullen Exhaust will have It done for me for an awesome price, whether I go with the R-Spec or V-Spec considering I see him seasonally for one reason or another.

He custom made me a Greddy Type-S BOV ss adapter pipe for next to nothing.

 

I have the 2-row and didn't have too much problems with it besides to instructions, lol. I mounted it too far forward and had to cut the hell out of the bumper to get it to go on. I got a new bumper now and will be moving it back a few inches. Also going to be putting some of the ricer mesh on in front of it to protect it and hide it more or less
