I though it was just because back then in the 40's 50's and 60's there was no concern for that so no one made catylitic converters back then, I bet the emissions are just going to get stricter, thanks to all those damn soccer moms driving there suburbans

26th year in NY, no emissions testing and you can get historic plates if you get classic insurance. Finding classic insurance is a little tougher for a Jap car though, tried with my '79 GS, finally got JT Taylor to say yes but then no since I did not have an additional car for each driver in the house.

OBEY YOUR MAZDA
In Denmark (where i live) Your car has to be 35 years old to be a classic, and we dont bother about smog since its car/year specific. A little rubbing alcohol will do the trick.
But now that were into classics i would get a Datsun 240z over any rx7 . Sorry but they are fu*king beuatiful cars).

Ha, I just registered my car at my buddy's house who lives out in the sticks where there aren't any emission testing requirements. So now I don't have to worry about it anymore and I can finally get rid of my cats and get the header presilencer system I have been longing for.
